Not normally a news story worthy of its own thread but check out the cargo on the car transporter.

RIP to the victim.
Same area, every single summer long weekend.
Got stuck in this, accident happened at 12:30 and highway was still closed at 4pm. Sat in traffic for a while and eventually got off and took highway 40 to 68, was bizarre having highway 1 almost to myself when I got back on. Apparently 1A was stupid slow so glad I took the scenic route with only the washboard to slow me down

curious as to how this happened.
My bet is shit bald tires on the altima, hydroplaned and spun in front of the truck. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I’ve had to dodge a drunk before around Morley driving home from Banff one evening... they mean it when they say watch out for pedestrians on the highway..

my friends and I were caught up in this yesterday. 2 of us were lucky enough to jump off at Exshaw and took 1a home. took about 6 hours to drive home from Panorama. 2 other vehicles didn't turn off quick enough and ended up just driving back to Canmore and had dinner there. last family got home at about 9:30pm. what should've have been a 3 hour drive home turned into whole day affair. we all left panorama at about 11am.

I drove beside the truck that was hauling the cars after they had been loaded or reloaded and continued along their way. My son loved the S2000.
In other news, somebody in the Global comments posted about people on the reserve throwing rocks at cars and extorting money. If that is true, that is a shame, and it wouldn't be the first time there have been problems with the reserve when there is an accident and traffic is rerouted through their community. My wife kept asking if we could go down certain roads and I said no way are we entering their land. They often make it very clear they do not want any visitors.
Isn't that the same reserve that set up tolls on 1A when 1 was closed a few years ago??This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
EDIT: just read those Global comments. Damn thats nasty shit.

Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Sure is.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yea if you can (don’t have a super low vehicle) when this happens never take 1A. They do this kind of stuff every time.
Ohhh so that's what happened. I got stuck in Canmore for hours. Good thing I filled up
Glad I chose to drive back from Canmore Sunday night rather than the next day... I knew a few people who decided to just stay and drive into work first thing this AM.

The incident referred to in that 2015 story isn't about using highway 1A, it's using the gravel local roads across the reserve.
I support the right for the band to keep highway traffic off small local roads that were never built for that volume of traffic.
