I'd be down for some casual commander as I've also been looking for a playgroup.

I put together a custom Yarok, the Desecrated build a little while ago, but also have the Commander Anthology decks I could play if you're wanting to do more of a pre-con + upgrade over time approach.

I know there are a few commander players on here. Anyone doing casual commander and willing to take in a new player? or anyone interested in doing a home league pre-con thing that upgrades as we go?

Also, I made a commander deck with cards I currently have for fun, anyone able to make some suggestions for it? I brewed it this morning, but it is my first EDH brew, so I know it is gonna be mostly garbage LOL

Hey man, I'll let you know when my group gets together next. We play once a week or so, mostly battlecruiser EDH so more in it for the memes than anything haha.

As for the deck, more auras and more trample enablers are the biggest things missing. I'll look at it a bit closer tomorrow though!

Seeing as how my group has been super busy and not playing much lately I'd be down!

Played it a few times in my teens. Its alright, like the artwork. Knew a guy who tried to buy all the Black lotus (someone always tries it seems). Also knew a guy with the full MOX. But I could never tell a fake from a real card, so never really got into it.

Rudy is great on YouTube because half the fun for me - is simply looking at the cards.

dual lands would be sweet to collect but too rich, still considering getting a Juzam Djin.
I'm looking to buy some beta/revised White Knight, Black Knight, Hypnotic Specter and Kird Ape.

Those Secret Lairs would be fun to collect too

There's massive price differentials on alpha/beta/unlimited white knight/black knight/hypnotic specter versus revised. Think like 100x the price depending on the set and condition...

yeah saw that, crazy how black borders commands some premium over but they definitely looks nicer. will take my time searching for them anyway and other vintage cards that I might want to collect.

It's all related to the print runs of the original sets. Alpha and Beta rares are extremely limited in print run. Something like 1000 Alpha rares and 3000 Beta rares were ever printed. Same deal with the uncommon/commons. Compare that to the current modern sets where the print runs are in the millions...

Here's a break down of the estimated print runs(Wizards neither confirms or denies the numbers...) for some of the older sets:
    https://www.mtginformation.com/print-runs

Your beta pestilence has a print run of ~40,000 or so. It's likely far rarer in terms of print run than most of your other "higher" end cards.

Stopped in today and bought a couple packs of Commander Legends. Got lucky and pulled a regular Mana Drain in a pack. Not too shabby!

been a long time since any post here

Wizards 30th anniversary set looks like a reprint of beta cards. Sounds like a $999 usd price tag for a few packs. It's a pretty major deal for any collectors or those wanting their own black lotus or power 9.

I'll have to grab a few boxes.

It's definitely a collectors item... the serialized cards will keep the value of the boxes higher. Personally I think many people who haven't collected in a while would buy simply off nostalgia as well.

I'll probably buy a few just to hold long term. Seems lots of the kids are upset at the price point.

Since the pandy I have yet to bust out my actual cards to play table top Magic. I've been playing MTG Arena pretty much everyday and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back.

I have a bunch of cards from the 90’s, anyway to check if they are worth anything local? I doubt there is anything big in there but they are collecting dust at my parents place

I'd buy cards from the 90s. You can easily find comps online for general pricing pretty easily.

How far back do yours go?

I collect old school mtg. I was on the pro tour in mid 90s and collected heavily. Stopped playing forever but got back into collecting the older stuff a while back. Also collect lots of sealed product.

But yeah if it's alpha, beta, legends, antiquities, revised, unlimited. Odds are it sells extremely easily or could be alliances, visions weather light from late 90s.

90s is a bit too broad tho as there's lots of crap mixed with some of the most sought after old school cards.
