Currently in the middle of a build and I'd like to get another quote or 2 on the drywall. Preferably someone who does alot of semi detached and knows their sound proofing stuff. Please post your recommendations

“Semi-detached” gets me every time. Every fuckin time.
Well first understand that soundproofing starts at the design stage not the drywall stage and second, if they don't immediately give you a quote that day then fuck em.

I don't think the drywall guy is the soundproofing guy usually. I mean, if you want double layer or accoustic caulk, or those z-clips maybe they do the install.

I've been reading up on drywall called quiet rock thats supposed be equivalent to 5 sheets of drywall. Of something and the drywall people are usually the owns putting in the insulation and I wanted to inquire the difference between quiet zone and roxulThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I used quiet clips that attach to a furring channel on the ceiling. Then roxul between the joists. Then had drywallers show up. Drywallers aren't rocket scientists. You're expecting a lot.
I used a drywaller called lions den drywall. But that was a few decades ago now. Might be retired like anyone else in housing industry.
Clips used.

Did it cost a few thousand dollars to do a basement suite? You bet. Do I regret it? Not one day. Worth it beyond words.
Only regret is not ripping out entire heat ducting and doing that properly not 1950s style.
Not enough velocity in my opinion and the returns suck too.

Will only affect higher frequency noise, not lower frequencies like bass or people thumping their feet up and down stairs. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
