Yup, that's pretty much the stance I would have taken - but more specifically toward California instead of the generalized USA. If you can't make it in California, exactly what universe does anyone think they will survive in Edmonton?

But it is true, Canada does have quite stronghanded refugee laws in place already. It was always the USA that was “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”.
