AC lite is good. But I already wish I went ahead for a touch more range. Depends how many AP’s you want to run.

Had to fight with Telus retentions a little bit, but I managed to get upgraded to Internet 300 at $55/mo. for six months without a term. Guess I'll be calling them in January again.
Made the call to Telus to cancel my services and move to Shaw, would have stayed with them but there's no fibre in my area which I find strange for 2018. Been with Telus since 2012, no complaints so nothing against them
But since I'm moving, I'm not signing up for TV services as the only thing I really use it for is background noise or if my daughter wants to watch something, that being said, what are the best android boxes out there?
Perhaps since my only experience with these is in a corporate environment, but I found them terrible, client went against our recommendations and eventually got rid of the devicesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I do! I've got 3 APs in the house, and run a ubiquiti edgerouter, with a 24 port switch in my rack. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

how much is it after 6 months? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
$110/month. So double the promo price.
No joy, on Monday. Had to escalate it again. Told 1 to 48 hrs!
Around 8am on Tuesday went to check the weather/traffic before heading to work. Internet light was off on the Hitron, plugged the new modem in and it finally worked.
Setup bridged mode when I got home then called to active the 2nd IPv4 address. Less than ten minutes later everything's up and running!
I hope they release new modem in a year or so. I'm surprised how hot the XB6 runs and it would be nice not to have a modem/router combo.

Guys,
I need some help. I'm getting getting only 180 mbps down. I'm standing right beside the modem on 5 Ghz. =/
I used wifi analyzer to see what channels around me are better, and tried those respective channels. Still no luck, max I get is 180 mbps =/
Did you try wired? Maybe it's not your wireless but rather Shaw problem. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What does your wired PC get? First you need to determine what is actually being delivered to your house. If you're getting 330Mbps at your wired PC, but less on wireless, then the problem is probably the router or some other interference provided you have modern wireless devices. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Hey guys
So wired in, I'm at 330 mbps. So seems like it's a me problem. I am running netgear r7000, any suggestions to improve the speeds?
I had a R7000 before I switched to Unifi, didn't have speed issues back then but issues with connectivity. Maybe with trying a different router, perhaps something with APs like Orbi/Google Wifi/Eero?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Here in Nolan Hill with fibre, correct modem, and r6400. Capped at 260-280 wired straight to the modem.
So I am getting $10 discount till they can fix it. Been on the phone for 2 hours now and no go. Tried literally everything
GO FLAMES GO!
EDIT:
Looks like i need a new router that can handle the faster speeds, what are you guys using for routers, any recommendations? Will need a WAP also.
Thanks.

Weird, I had my Shaw 300 installed yesterday, guy came in and asked where I wanted it. Told him in the basement where my old telus stuff was, he mentioned I would have bad reception on the top floor. I told him, it's ok I have access points and stuff, then mentioned I work in IT, as soon as I said that he offered to put it in bridge mode no problem. He showed me how as well, beyond easy to do, it's literally a button as soon as you login to the webguiThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Orbi or Velop if you are looking at mesh systems. You NEED wireless/wired backhaul options if you want to see good throughput numbers. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I run a Asus ROG 5300 and have zero issues getting blazing speeds throughout my house but also have a Velop system (don't ask) and see very good numbers from that as well.
I went through several mesh systems before i went back to my 5300 for performance reasons (and yes I bought and tried these all). Google, Asus lyra, Eero, and TP Deco were all shit in my opinion when it comes to performance. None of those mesh systems were able to consistently stream 4k UHD from my server. The Velop system and the Orbi were the only ones that were able to do it reliably. I kept the Velop because its coverage is really good and performance is great i just dislike the app. Orbi was also good but I had issues with wired backhaul and it liked to default back to wireless all the time. I have heard however they have fixed it mostly in new firmwares.
I said this once but I will say it again.....If you want performance backhaul is everything. Child nodes without a dedicated channel for backhaul will see a 50% speed decrease over the parent node (Orbi and Velop don't suffer from this, Orbi isn't even a mesh system really its more a router and ap system)

Yeah i told him i wasn't using the shaw appliance as a rouyter/modem/wap and after some back and forth he agreed to do it, but he was on the phone with someone setting it up though. Then after that he showed me how. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I got one of these for routing duty as my N66U couldn't handle more than 180 mbps.
