Does anyone actually give a shit about whether they eat at McDonalds or not due to this?

Like seriously, what in the fuck? "Hmm, I'm not going to get a big mac today because McDonalds doesn't buy from sustainable farms, but boy howdy I'm going to DQ instead!"

I care... Usually if I see words like "sustainable" or "organic", those are clear signals of something I don't want. Lower quality, higher price? No thank you.

I care a bit. However, I largely ignore claims companies make in commercials as marketing bullcrap.

Don’t give a single shit about sustainable or organic or no hormones, etc. Save that for the hipsters with purple hair.

If you’re eating fast food, you clearly don’t give a shit about what you put into your body. Seems ironic to me to justify it by saying that it’s better for you since there’s no antibiotics or whatever.

Anyone who has kids is a hypocrite when it comes to sustainability. The only one that truly cares about sustainability is Thanos.

I don’t see why the hate here. the average person doesn’t seem to care about the environment (especially in Alberta) so it’s good if more companies join on the wagon to shift things to a more long term future regardless of what you guys seem to think. People are gonna buy McDonald either way so why not use better options

I couldn't give a shit about beef since we raise them by the millions.

I'm more concerned about overfishing but I don't actively look for sushi places which harvest from sustainable fisheries.

I have zero problem with the initiative. I have a problem with the advertising.

If they aren't advertising to us, their consumers, than who are they advertising to? And if all it is is virtue signaling (which is all it is), then that means by buying their product, we continue to support their bullshit. AND it costs the consumer more to pay for their products, which they then continue to virtue signal with.

    See my conundrum?

Actually, I do have a problem with the initiative, its bullshit. These "sustainable" associations are nothing more than certain parts of industry trying to get in with the green-tards and making an "official" stamp of approval that really doesn't change anything. Any association not sanctioned by the government is basically an advertising arm of industry where their "best practices" usually mean nothing.

It's about changing overall corporate image, not selling individual hamburgers. They're trying to be seen as something other than a kid-fattening, cow slaughtering food factory.

It did work, that's why McD is following suit. 25-44 demo grew 16% since for A&W.

Wow. Once again going to show that Beyond, and the folks I generally hang around, are not in any way indicative of society in general. Crazy, thanks for the informative article!

    Edit-
Reading further, I do take that with a big grain of salt. For profit advertising association jerking themselves off a bit there. But still, interesting article nonetheless.

We plan on having kids. But before you advocate sterilizing the population because your bs belief that we are over populated we first try clean energy and 95% conversion eficinecy instead of 35% and dirty energy

You know as an easy start basic easy obvious sustainbility before cullings and stuff.

Yeah, I just happen to run into that original article. Many reports, including that one form Globe and Mail said they do enjoy 8% overall increase compared to industry standard of -1%-5%. So it works.

But in the end the focus will always be on age 25-44, and most businesses trying to attract that group and you just have to follow the trend within that group. Just like Starbucks ditching straws and goes to sippy cups.

You know as an easy start.
That's is just tips on iceberg. Food will be a major issue that energy is only a tiny portion of that picture. Until we have Star Trek style replicators, having kids is bad for the environment, period.
