So funny that you made this thread right now haha.
I just turned 26, I have had auto insurance since I started driving at 16, for ten years I never had any issues, no claims, accidents, nothing.
In june I hit a deer with my Yukon and the little fuckers horn popped a hole through my bumper and managed to puncture the A/C line, Then just a week ago I AVOIDED a deer in a Mazda three and ended up in the ditch with a totalled whip. My fuckin' luck.
PSA
Hitting the deer - no fault accident
Ditching the car to avoid deer - at fault accident

The problem with this poll is that as the years pile on, the odds of making more than a few claims add up. 39 years of being insured and 14 different claims - shit happens and that's why one has insurance.
Will fuck off, again.
While what you say is generally true even if you normalize for years insured there are still large variations between people. One thing I shake my head at is what some people will make a claim for when it comes to theft. They don’t comprehend that insurance companies aren’t their friend and You rarely if ever come out ahead of an insurance companyThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
3 Total claims
2 Comp claims - Hail on a car, and a stolen motorcycle
1 "Accident" claim, not at fault - Rearended on my newer motorcycle

I've known people who would submit insurance claims for a window broken in their home by a ball thrown by their kid, not once but at least four separate times. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

2 claims in 21 years of driving.
First was hail damage on my truck. $1500 in PDR and a new piece of trim - good to go.
Someones sperm rat intentionally spun out in ice/gravel and blasted the passenger side of my new tacoma (first ever new vehicle, had about 3000km on it) with rocks. Windshield, pass door, a-pillar, pass rear door and pass rear quarter panel. Front Pass quarter panel was 100% 3M. No damage there.
Followed him and got the license plate, and visual confirmation of driver. Returned to scene of the idiocy and got some witness info. Reported to RCMP.
RCMP issued a couple of tickets.
Insurance tells me that they can't prove intent - and the other party will pay my comprehensive deductible. Fast forward 6 months, the autobody shop did a fine job fixing my paint and i'm only out a few hours of time and about a tank of gas.
