Default Driving the 93 To Jasper and back - must stop locations?

Well, after 38 years in the province, I am finally going to do the highway 93 drive and visit Jasper with Baygirl and the 2 kids. As I have never driven the 93, nor have I been to Jasper, is there anything along the route that is awesome? like a wicked place to stop for lunch? any must see vistas? etc...

We are really looking forward to this trip as none of us have been there yet.

    TIA!

A good shortish hike is Parker's ridge. Peyto lake lookout is a very short walk for a great view. Sunwapta falls is impressive.

If at all possible try to do the drive earlier in the day.

In Jasper, the tramway is totally worthwhile, and miette hot springs are to my mind the nicest in the rockies.

Wicked place to stop for lunch along the 93? Only if you've brought your own lunch, otherwise the offerings are quite slim, probably less than half a dozen eating establishments along the 93.
    Will fuck off, again.

Just bring food. Nowhere worth eating between lake Louise and Jasper.

Columbia Icefield and that glass walkway may worth a stop.

If you like your nature with crowds and admission fees, maybe. Not my style.

Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Sunwapta Falls (I personally liked the restaurant right on the highway there), Athabasca Falls, Myette Hot Springs, Pyramid Lake. Honestly just driving that section is simply stunning.

The kids will like the Glacier thing. Never done the walkout, doesn't seem appealing and you see the view as you drive by. But I can appreciate it's not the same.

I REALLY like Jasper, unfortunate it's so far from everything.

A few things, as i've driven it a bazillion times now.

    - You need a park pass to be on the highway, even if you're just passing through.
    - Get up early and be on the parkway by like 8 or earlier if you want to avoid the RV-Canada crowds, unless thats your style.
    - Fill up in Canmore or Lake Louise if you can't stretch it to Jasper from Calgary. Do NOT stop at Sask river crossing unless you need just to pee. The world's shittiest coffee there will be $6, and gas will likely be $1.70 or more for regular. Just drive by it and dont look back.

Not sure your fitness level, but if you have the ability, hike Mount Wilcox and get a way better view of the icefields then all the tourists at the centre.

For the love of all that is holy, don't support brewsters and do the stupid Glacier Overview thing

really, the views the whole way are astonishing..the icefields are just even moreso..

heading up from Lake Louise to Jasper, best time to do it is in the morning.

    Worthy stops are
    Hector Lake
    Bow Lake
    Peyto Lake
    Panther Falls
    Tangle Creek Falls
    Sunwapta Falls
    Athabasca Falls
    Mt Edith Cavell

I actually didnt mind stopping by at the Cross Gas station for food.

It's $35/person for that Skywalk and last time I was there you had to take a bus to get to it because there is no parking near it. It also has a million tourists . Just keep driving past that whole area, way nicer things to see on that drive without admission fees and massive crouds IMO.

if you're willing to take a detour onto highway 11, Abraham Lake is pretty amazing. Not too far from the 93.

Been forever since I have been that way but horseshoe Lake was fun, cliff jumping, good swimming hole. Not sure if its a crowded place now, as this was 20ish years ago
