Not sure why all you ballers don't buy into Ubiquiti hardware for wireless... those things have some serious broadcasting power.

It's has nothing to do with power. In fact, in a proper Ubiquiti setup, your power levels should be lower than default. Long story short, even if the AP can blast huge amounts of power, your cell phone still can't connect because the AP can't hear your cell phone which broadcasts at the minimum possible power to preserve battery life. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Im running a Pfsense box and a couple of old ASUS WAPs but am definitely thinking about going with the Unifi AP down the road in our 3 level house. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We are talking about unifi, not amplifi, right? For ubiquity hardware.

Yup! Unifi AP AC LiteThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They seem a little more expensive now then when I got mine, but I'm sure they go on sale for $105 or so every now and then.

Paid $180 for a 3-pack of mesh routers. Cheapest I see the lite is for $110 on newegg Canada (+$10 shipping). I'm not sure the lite could hit my whole house, and I've already spent the money on the 3-pack.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I also can't run ethernet everywhere to run additional AP's, without hiring someone to run it for me (old build), which is even more money.

AC lite is good. But I already wish I went ahead for a touch more range. Depends how many AP’s you want to run.

I do! I've got 3 APs in the house, and run a ubiquiti edgerouter, with a 24 port switch in my rack. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Will never got back to consumer grade networking gear.
I just switched to Unifi. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I got one of these for routing duty as my N66U couldn't handle more than 180 mbps.

Got price beat at Memex as it was $10 cheaper at newegg.ca

Very impressive, watched a quick vid on it. Can you tell me more for your experience please? Ease of configuration, security? Thanks. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Edge router is years old generation. Unless it is a substantial discount I would go with USG which integrates better with the UniFi software.
I think a new USG is due soon with more horsepower to run their new intruder protection tech.

Yup, I’m going to return the edge and get the USG. Same hardware, but runs the controller too.
Edit: I guess it integrates, not run. The description on Memex makes it sound like it has the controller software onboard.

What are you trying to connect with? Is it capable of 300 mbps in the first place? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Get a Pi to run the controller. It's cheaper and you can run pihole on it as well among other things! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
