Back in the day I’d call it financially irresponsible and reckless. Spend $2400 on a phone, survive on $2 assorted sub at Thi Thi.

Agree with Rage2, such a stupid amount of $ to have spend on a phone back then, even when I had the $ for it, there were a hundred things I needed, or even could have used more, and stuck with the Digital Lite which worked fine still. Was nice having a phone with the flat front battery which fit in a front pocket though, as I spent 5 nights a week out, or more.

I have a very first gen Blackberry too, little blue one that has a monochrome screen - curiously it had by far the best buttons and scroll wheel of every subsequent BB device I owned (all of them up to the iPhone first gen). It cost about 1/4 of what the new StarTac did too, and I think I used that Berry longer than pretty much any other phone since that StarTac.
