    Default Energy bill

Just seeing what everyone seems to be paying for utilities because we just got ours and it seems to be a bit high considering we've been gone for the entire month. It was just over 200 bux this past month and as I said, were gone for all of it. We are with enmax so I'm not sure if prices are just high all around or if it's time to switch. This is just an 1800 square foot house in new Brighton.

Prices are high all around, just under $400 - family of 4 in a 1100 sq ft bungalow

If you look at your bill, its probably all the delivery fees and shit they make they money on, actual usage is very little.

Check the usage, kWh of electricity, GJ of gas and m3 of water. Check the period too. I won't see my Jul usage till the next bill comes. My bill is a bit higher than before due to Notley but I don't see big fluctuation.

We are in a 1300sqf 4-level split minus a single attached garage.. so ~2200sqf total living space?

Right now in the summer we are running ~$250/month. Winter we get to ~$380/month.

2 adults. No kids. No AC. Water the lawn almost everyday when it's not raining. Everything registered with Enmax.

Do all you want... but energy bills in Alberta are absolutely fucking stupid expensive because of all the stupid ass "fees". Its one reason why I miss BC for.

In BC you will just get raped by other fees...so really it's a moot point.

My electrical USE was 2.5x higher this month... check the readings... apparently on jul 15th it was read at 3900... which was also magically the last billing day of the higher rate before it dropped down (which I can assume is when the regulated maximums kicked in?)

Today I go and look at the reading.. 3360... hrmmmmmmm suspicious

    Fucking enmax

When I was with Enmax, I would constantly see this (as I report my own meter reading monthly). Then 2 months later, I'd be given a "rebate" of sorts equal to the over-charge. It always equaled out in the end, but I was always suspicious that them doing this was either an interest free loan (care of their consumers), or they did it for their quarterly reports to somehow make themselves look more profitable.

Either way, I'm not with them anymore, so fuck Enmax.

Drive an ICE, you get robbed by a lean energy extracting operation that is impacted by international politics.

Drive an EV, you get robbed by incompetent AESO and provincial government policies and ineffective operators that still had to deal with unions leftover before privatization.

Unless you shut heat/water heater off, it's still runs. 60% of your bills are fees and 40% are usage and taxes.

It's still 14c or lower at night, so if you set your furnace at 20C, it will still run a bit.

And here I’m complaining at house of 2, 2500 sq.ft with the AC cranked. Paying about $250 a month. Very little lawn watering but the wife is home all day every day with a newborn.

The riders I pay are almost nothing, my electric bill including everything averages about 25$ a month. That is with me running AC and a heat pump too.

I will screen shot one of my bills, it is crazy cheap
It's cheap to cool down a large Vancouver condo, with 350 sq.ft. of living space.

Half your bill is service and carrying fees.
A totally empty home is still going to net about $180/month.

Had zero luck with customer service. Unbelievable how nonchalant they are about over billing
