    Default Toronto

I’m going to Toronto in May. My girlfriends friend is getting married.
I am planning to fly in on a Friday and fly back Wednesday.

The rough plan is, I fly in Friday(my gf will be there Wednesday) and pick up a rental car for two days. Then check in to a place we have yet to book near wedding venue.
Wedding will be in Scarborough on Saturday morning.
Then dinner with a friend somewhere in the evening.

Sunday morning, return rental car, have lunch with new bride and husband in Markham or Scarborough.
From that, we have 2-3 days to explore.
Can anyone recommend where would be a good base to stay in Toronto after the wedding? Near transit, sights, food etc.
Whats to see and do? I like museums, weird market stuff and cheap places to eat.
I have no idea. I figured if we are staying downtown after the wedding, im assuming we don’t need a rental car?

Any advice and tips would be appreciated.

Definitely don't need a car in downtown, you can just uber everywhere. Less hassle and don't have to worry about parking.

Lots of food ranging from cheap to expensive depending what you want. Kensington market (right next to Chinatown for cheap, good Chinese food), St Lawrence market are probably worth visiting.

Definitely don't need a car if you stay downtown after the wedding. Uber/walk everywhere. You can also take the UP Express to the airport when you leave.

Entertainment district or Eaton Centre area are probably more "central" locations. Really depends on your price range but pretty much anywhere downtown will be decent for getting around though.

Other than Kensington and St. Lawrence mentioned previously, Distillery District is nice as well. If you're a sports fan, always fun to catch a basketball game or something (assuming the raptors run deep). Aquarium is decent. Walking around the harbour is nice as well and you could also check out Toronto Island. High Park or Trinity Bellwoods would have cherry blossoms around the May time frame.

Lots of good food, just depends on what type of food and price range you have. For cheap eats since you mentioned it, Seven Lives is a fantastic taco spot - it's in Kensington Market. Can provide other food options if you have specific interests in mind.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Oh dude, you gotta check out Casa Loma if you can. Place is gorgeous is full of history.

Take an Uber though cause their lot is small and there's actually a subway station couple blocks away.

Royal Ontario Museum was also a good place to go. There is also a Ripley's Aquarium next to the CN Tower if you're into that kind of thing.

Even though Toronto is massive, I really like how there are tons of restaurants open during the wee hours, especially in the asian-centric neighborhoods. You can get in to YYZ at 1am and still get bubbletea and pork cutlet on rice at a local dive

All I have to say is if you're interested in food. You have to go to Odd Seoul. Korean fusion place, it's a hole in the wall, food is amazing and cheap.
