Getting ready to sign into a new policy, so far the best prices are (granted when it comes to Home insurance, they coverage amount varies, also Discounts vary as well).

All choices below are approximately $2,000 less than Economical, Aviva, Intact, and Wawanesa's quote.

Touchstone Bill, or in my case Darren may not be the best option.

I was rate optimized this year too, and with the cooperators quote I just got, time to move on.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

Just got my home renewal bill. 35% increase this year. Gotta call in to Bill and see what gives.

    Intact?

My wife got a notice too that her insurance was going up a grand for the year without any reasons (accidents, tickets etc). Was going to put her on my TD policy which was significantly cheaper but since I had her insurance through Bill, spoke with him and ended up switching all our cars to Pembridge through him. Was only slightly cheaper than TD for all 3 cars but I just liked having Bill managing it for me from now on.

Fuck is that an option? Intact has been completely useless for me on my last claim. I did all the work and the guy assigned to me completely stopped responding to my calls and emails. I'm not even sure what I'm paying them for. Even if the price were the same, I'd switch over.

My renewal with Intact is in November. Wonder if it's worthwhile to switch earlier and not deal with this BS later.

My renewal is in 2 weeks, so this bump has been good timing.

I got switched over to Pembridge last year. From comparing bills from last year, it looks like they never applied any discounts

Yah I got Darren to swap me over to Pembridge as well. Intact increased I think almost 40% over 3 years without a single incident on my record. They are just raising rates to get people to pay or saying fuck off and walk apparently

My broker told me rates have gone up across the board over the last few years. Customers are being hosed by insurance companies.

I miss the days where renewals would be cheaper each time.

I got my AVIVA renewal in the mail, house up $150 for the year and the 2 cars up $900 (45% increase)
One call to Darren, and while the cars don't change a whole lot (down ~$250 the house dropped $700). Best 45 minute conversation i've had this week.

My buddy in the industry is saying that the reason for the jump in premiums is two fold. Record amount of claims and premium defaults. Especially in alberta.

    Not to much a renewal

But my car was stolen/written off, got paid for it and Economical wanted me to pay more after I got paid (2 months+ pretty much they gave my broker a pretty Bullshit excuse, but it was also part of my stupidity (I wrote the wrong date on when I was returning from Europe by 1 month and it got stolen 3 days before I had "Full Insurance" again (Only fire and theft at the time)

It was kind of a weird situation.

Anyways If I am to purchase a new car (Or used) will my rates now go up? (Other then having a more expensive vehicle which is expected) - I kind of don't want to deal with Economical again.

Bill can you verify? Should a stolen Vehicle change my new rates on a car (I wasn't at fault) will be going to the car show today to see what's on the market, but I don't really need a new car (I do very low KM /year + out of town a lot) - Clean record for 15 years... (I think 1 ticket like 10 years ago)

+ I also learned Home insurance will cover stuff in your car, car insurance will not! Let this be a lesson to people - I had my snowboarding gear in my car when it was stolen and they sold it off but it was not under my home insurance...

Anyone else seeing this from TD or their other providers?

That's really recent. One of the reasons I switched away from TDMM back in the day was their weak coverage on sewer backup.
