Default I was just at New Horizon Mall (Asian Mall)

There was literally 3 stores open for business in there. Place was pretty nice inside but it looks like a complete failure.

I've driven Highway 2 a bunch recently and keep forgetting about it, is it not noticeable from the highway or am I just not being observant?

It's obvious if you know what you are looking for. Right between the tractor dealership and crossiron, but it is set back a ways.

There’re also quite a few ads on kijiji of investors trying to lease out their units or just transfer their purchase assignment.

Lots of folks bought the stalls as "investments" and plan to flip them. So until those get sold to people who actually want to operate stores, the place will be a little barren.

Well, it was Aug and then Sep and now Oct?

I don't see how they will get any more shops in there in 2 more months. Nobody is moving in.

Then it's a vicious circle of no shops = no traffic. No traffic = No shops. That's why NA Malls need anchors.

EDIT: Looks like Grand Opening is Oct 27th, 2018.

so it's like a coop mall? why would you want to buy a stall vs lease? seems like a liability.

Because new immigrants always think Canadian properties rises in value like their home country. Buy, buy, buy.

If this is at North Hill location, it may be worth investing hoping that future land value will worth negative cash flow for decades. At Balzac, probably take a century before that piece of land is worth anything.

dang, I feel bad for this couple in the photo. I wonder how much they invested in this hoping for traffic, but there is NO traffic. How depressing would it be working there all day and realising you made a huge mistake. Hopefully it's just a front for their main store/online business.
