    Default Frustration With Ticket Processing Times

    Relating back to my thread about wearing my seatbelt, I received a ticket 3 weeks ago for not wearing a seatbelt. Today, I went online to pay it when the website was telling me that the ticket can't be found. So I call the processing centre (or whatever it's called), and they tell me that the ticket hasn't been entered into their system. Again, it's been 3 weeks - 22 days to be exact.

    According to the operator, my options are:
    1) To go to a registry and pay a ticket that's not in the system. This could also lead to $7-$10 in administration fees;
    2) Mail my payment for a ticket that's not in the system;
    3) Go to the courthouse to pay for a ticket that's not in the system;
    4) Go to the courthouse and challenge a ticket that's not in the system;
    5) Check daily until my ticket is entered into the system.

    Also according to the operator, if I go to the courthouse and the ticket isn't in the system, they would simply extend the time to pay the ticket. This seems ridiculous because, while I may be against the manner in which I got my ticket (the officer walked out of a McDonald's to give me this seatbelt ticket, I can't argue with the fact that I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, so now I'm trying to pay it, and they're making it as difficult as possible to pay it.

    My court date is in 9 days and since I have nothing better to do with my days, I'll probably go and see if the ticket is in the system yet. If not, I'd like to see if I can get the ticket cancelled/withdrawn/whatever just by virtue of how ridiculous it is that it still hasn't been entered into their system after 3 weeks. Then again, I run into a similar problem: the ticket isn't in the system.

    Has anyone else run into this problem themselves?

    Don't they usually throw it out if the cop doesn't enter it in the system?

    They have been extremely late entering the tickets into the system lately...I'm finding generally around a week or so before your court date is when you can expect it to be in there. You don't need to go to the courthouse to check if it's in the system, you can check just by trying to pay online.

    I had similar issue recently, detailed in this thread: https://forums.beyond.ca/threads/407...n-pay-a-ticket
    Took approx 1 month for it to show up in system.

    You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

    My stupid equipment violation (brake light bulb out) ticket didn’t show up until about a week out from my court date.

    Definitely a stupid system

    My husband got a ticket July 20th, court date was for today August 30.
    It was entered in the system August 28th.

    An no, just because the ticket is not in the system at the time of your scheduled appearance, does not mean the ticket is thrown out. The officer has 6 months after the court date to still enter it. - this is what my husband was told by the office that handles this.

    So what happens if you show up to the court date whilst it's not in the system?

    "Sorry, you wasted your time coming down here?"

    Exactly that. Had that exact situation with my last ticket.
