That's because those are probably the same people that don't want to have to change their tires over, buy/store another set, or pay to have them changed and stored. As soon as it affects them it's a horrible idea.

Good point. How does the saying go - the fastest way to get something done is to inconvenience rich people or people in power, something like that haha. This is the opposite I guess.

Not sure why you would come to that conclusion - the AB sheriffs do pretty much this - rural highway patrol. The RCMP and others are too busy trying to catch actual criminals.

Unless you want 1000x more police on the roads, or post mounted cameras at high risk locations - even then you will never eliminate all speed related collisions.

Mandated winter tires in AB would be FAR more effective. You have people thinking that its OK to drive in blizzard conditions on sheet ice because you 'have an SUV with AWD' and A/S tires.
I don't want to stir up a bunch of shit again by talking about facts and statistics. But that's where I have drawn my conclusion from. If you want to discuss it I'm happy to, but please refer to the accident data available first.

And yes, I 100% agree that mandating winter tires would do wonders for accident reduction.

I had to quote this for posterity. Possibly the most hypocritical thing I have ever read on Beyond

Statistically speaking, Amway did change his life.
