Nexen Winguard Winspike studded seems like a solid bet or Cooper WeatherMaster ST2

I still don't understand why you call it a Zonda? Is that a British thing?
Yes. This might help understanding my posts and the humour.
My Canadian chums take me too seriously.

Do you guys find running studs in your wheelies worth it in the city..? I mean the first snowfall and a few days after yes... I find the roads mostly clear up.
    Thoughts?

Interesting, after a lot of Wrangler forum browsing that’s the first I have heard of duratracs being too heavy duty for a Wrangler. They are easily the most popular Wrangler tire on most forums aside from people who go with full on mud terrains.

I mean, they come in a wide variety of weight ratings, I’m not saying I need 10 ply tires...

End of the day the Stock tires will be fine, I was just thinking of something more winter beast mode and could also give me a touch more off road confidence for a couple trails I’d like to try next summer.

I think talking about tires is a top 10 favourite topic for me hahaha
Duratracs need studs for winter driving because they are shitty on ice. Great tire in snow and slush but not so great on ice. Keep in mind the duratrac is designed to be a AS tire with snowflake rating.

That’s my thought, I’ve never had a tire I was ever really satisfied with the ice performance on. Studded duratracs seem to fit the need for 1 set of year round tires.

Grabbers sound interesting too, I’m sure most options are good.

I do want something more aggressive looking as wel for purely aesthetic reasons.

Yup.. which is why im going to a dedicated winter tire this year and keeping my duratracs for spring/summer/fall. They are freaking terrifying on ice without studs.

BFG KO2 are another good option for a Aggressive looking AT for Winter/Summer use. One again, AS tire with snowflake rating.

Halloween is usually my date to swap for the daily.

Any out of town trips do change that....but being at a dealership....I can show up on Summers, and the leave on Winters anytime...also helps storing them at the dealership haha...

I called Kal-Tire yesterday and they said that a rebate from Nokian Tires for the Hakka R3's starts around mid October - $50 off each tire IIRC. But he also said that if they sell out before then, that you pretty much have to wait until next year to get them. He checked the stock in the Edmonton warehouse for 245/45R18 and they had just over 90 in stock there.

All in price was $1198 if I went and got them right now... including my AMA discount.

I was quoted a similar price for Hakka 9's in 225/45R18. They said they had about 300 in stock. I just need to narrow down a wheel and I will get them.

Nov 10 is typically when I swap over. Cold temps don’t bother me, it’s when the snow starts to stick overnight..

On that note, I want to swap out my duratrax for a dedicated winter tire on my truck. Any suggestions for one that can get through pow pow?Name: A232A4C3-48FD-478B-A971-1F68355D149B.jpg

Good to know, I think I decided I’ll try the Hakka 9 SUV studded, and being in Seattle...they won’t be selling out. Hopefully it’s a mfg rebate and not kal tire exclusive.

I'm giving the Toyo Observe G3 Ice Studded a try this year. It's an older tire, there's been a few decent reviews of the tire on beyond.
I run the non studded version on the truck and they work great

My tires got stolen yesterday. I got 3 seasons out of them so I guess not a big loss.

I had Federal Himalaya WS2 which I got for $460.

Should I get these again or switch to something else?

Couldn't decide on a new tire so back to Blizzak WS80. They wear down fast but that's a FWP as they are so good for the first bit
