I’ll have to check, they came with the truck but I bet they are LTs. You can see how bad they are, on the inside front edges every other tread block doesn’t touch the ground lol, luckily the front end has been cleaned up and realigned. The rear two are perfect wear and close to new tread. I am debating borrowing a friends tire shaver and trying to smooth the front ones.
Yeah the heavy duty ones just don't react as well on lighter vehicles for this. It isn't the Duratrac that is the issue as much as the specific one you go with. We see this with Jeep guys, Toyota guys and any of the smaller half ton trucks etc. Some guys don't care while others are super sensitive to it. I always try and warn people about the choices ahead of time so they are well aware.

I was gonna ask how KO2's manage on ice, but looks like @tirebob answered it here already haha

I'll preface this post with the statement that tirebob > Costco.

That being said, RE: warranty issues, I'd bet anyone $50 that it would be much much better to deal with Costco than Bridgestone for any warranty stuff.

    Tire warranty. Hilarious
Goodyear is easy to deal with, so is Continental. They are about the only two left with any sort of "warranty", I think Michelin might have something too on their more premium level stuff...thing is though, the chances of having an issue that is warrantable is pretty low, since most things would be spotted by a competent tire fitter before it even goes on your car

Of course this is where buying from somewhere like Urban (well, i mean nowhere is like Urban for this kinda stuff) where they'll go to bat with the manufacturer for you.

I just imagine the chains like Costco and Can Tire telling you there's nothing they can do regardless because the desk person has no idea how to deal with it

I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sports from Costco for my last car years ago and one of them blew out after putting only 4000km on it. They replaced it no questions asked.

This thread has me going back and forth on new tires for the truck. I might need to harass @tirebob about some 17's and something like some ko2s for the lariat.

Good to know. Any recommendation on some decent looking 17s as well?

If there's still any of the bronze Alphas left, i really like them!

World is your oyster for 17s for the F150 though, well maybe slightly less this year, but ya know

My top pick would be Toyo Open Country CT over the goodyears (even though I just bought a set) and the KO2's. But sounds like they're back ordered for around 6 weeks where I'm at, maybe Bob can get them sooner

See. out of the Toyo line, the CT is one of my last picks for winter use unless we are talking severe duty work service where compound toughness is a major concern. Of all the AT type tires from them, even the ones not 3PMS rated, it is one of the slicker ones on ice. Again though, if you are in areas where shale and other serious tire chunking hazards are a constant concern, the compound is tough. And of tougher compounder tires, it will be more usable in winter than many. That is the trade off to tough compounds is they they are not as flexible in severe cold.

Backorders do vary by size for sure, and Toyo is in rough shape with a lot right now so it will all depend on what they specifically are.

The on hold system for UrbanX has really leveled up.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.
