The one day where I woke up early and didn’t listen to cbc in the morning.

On the bright side hearing your voice while I’m in the shower would’ve been awkward.

Debating between a set of Pirelli Winter Ice Zero studded and Hakka 9's studded.

I hate waiting until everyone's shopping for winter tires so I'll pull the trigger in the next week or so just to get it over with.

    Hakkas in that case.

I disliked the Pirelli winter tires I had. They were their "performance" snow tires, so perhaps not the fairest comparison, but still.

Unless you literally have no other fitment available I struggle to understand why anyone would buy pirelli tires

That really depends on the vehicle and tire class. For example, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus II is one of the best SUV tires on the market right now.

Ice Zero and Hakka are two of the best studded tires out there, can't go wrong with either.

I’d pick the Pirelli myself, not a fan of Hakkas at all and I bet the Pirelli is a fair bit cheaper.

    Mediocre winter/ice performance

Claim to fame is low rolling resistance.

Nokian's on their fourth or fifth Hakka revision, apparently they're a lot better now in terms of actually being useful in winter.

    "actually being useful"???
People have been creaming in their jeans for these tires for 10+ years! Is "everyone" that wrong?

Pirelli made a cheap tire with low rolling resistance. So I guess so?

The first model was terrible on ice. Around 08.

I wasn’t talking about winter tires. The tires I mentioned are all seasons and what we use as summers on my wife’s CX-9. We have dedicated winters for it (Blizzaks).

You said why would anyone buy Pirellis. I gave an example. But if you meant why would anyone buy Pirelli “winter tires”, that’s another story.

We picked up some Xices for the wifes explorer on clearance at cantire. Pretty stoked, got Tires, and OEM ford steelies with sensors for $1200 all in, brand new, from ford.

I run pirellis on the wife’s car. They work well, I am on the second set and have no issues with them.

I need some winters on mighty new Zonda CRV. How exciting.
I need some advice. I got some dumb ass questions.

It has 19inch OEM Rims. Do I run OEM rims and do the tire swap. or... Im debating running 18's with oogly steel rims. Does anyone know if running 18's will give more sidewall cushion? Im tempted to go back to Bob and get 18's on the Federal Hymalayas (they don't come in 19inches). They were pretty good on my old vehicle. But it was a manual. So I was always able to judge the grip and feed the power with the clutch. But here is dumb ass question(don't judge). This is my first automatic with AWD. The computer is doing the work. I don't know how good a decent budget winter tire is? Any inputs?

    Honda quoted me 19inches on:
TIGER PAW ICE & SNOW 3 - UniRoyal
    Observe GSi-6 LS - Toyo

I don't know anything on the UniRoyal and Toyo brand for winters. Any inputs?
