GTI is incredible for what you get! but the fuel mileage and lower maintenance costs of the basic golf is too yummy to ignore for meThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ah. So i guess my wife was right when she said I said the same thing (about keeping it for a while) for the last one. Damn. Well, GTI is different I think. I am mostly worried about the chain, tensioner and guides on this car as that seems to be a notorious problem based on what people are saying on forums. Apparently, it's about $2K or so in expense to get that all taken care of as a way of preventative maintenance so I am considering if I should just get that done or what. But the more I read about it all the more paranoid I get. lol. So, if I do happen to do a quick flip (I don't think so - unless some serious issues occur (hope not)) it will be cause of the reliability factor. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. And the GTI requires premium fuel too which I did not have to worry about with the Scion. lol. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My GTI was ridiculously good for highway mileage, like 6.5 l/100km realized. How much better could you need? I’m sure the new ones are even better.

I was just looking at the new gti this past weekend. Great, zippy little car that takes regular gas now!
Honestly it's a great little car. A pocket rocket really. I haven't even driven a brand new one ever but I imagine it would be even better. Throwing it around the corners is awesome. Although I haven't done much of anything in it as roads have been shitty and I've only had it for a couple of days. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It's a DSG but a 2011. It has launch control? If so, how do I try that? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Other than what shak said about the tensioner belt, etc. what's the general reliability and resale value on these GTI's?
