Not that Scion is anymore powerful or anything but at least it's a manual so that'll keep me interested in it plus it has the quirky looks which is sort of the main reason why I started looking at it in the first place.

I plan to keep this one for a while. Plus I think I may be shooting myself in the foot too cause don't think it would be exactly easy to sell a car like the Scion xB?
Although, the GTI is twice the car the Xb was, so maybe this one will last half a year?

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

GTI is incredible for what you get! but the fuel mileage and lower maintenance costs of the basic golf is too yummy to ignore for me

90 cent gas. Who needs fuel economy.

Ah. So i guess my wife was right when she said I said the same thing (about keeping it for a while) for the last one. Damn. Well, GTI is different I think. I am mostly worried about the chain, tensioner and guides on this car as that seems to be a notorious problem based on what people are saying on forums. Apparently, it's about $2K or so in expense to get that all taken care of as a way of preventative maintenance so I am considering if I should just get that done or what. But the more I read about it all the more paranoid I get. lol. So, if I do happen to do a quick flip (I don't think so - unless some serious issues occur (hope not)) it will be cause of the reliability factor.

And the GTI requires premium fuel too which I did not have to worry about with the Scion. lol.

My GTI was ridiculously good for highway mileage, like 6.5 l/100km realized. How much better could you need? I’m sure the new ones are even better.

Honestly it's a great little car. A pocket rocket really. I haven't even driven a brand new one ever but I imagine it would be even better. Throwing it around the corners is awesome. Although I haven't done much of anything in it as roads have been shitty and I've only had it for a couple of days.

It's a DSG but a 2011. It has launch control? If so, how do I try that?

Other than what shak said about the tensioner belt, etc. what's the general reliability and resale value on these GTI's?
