Whirlpool dishwasher leaking right side.

Does anyone know what this thing is circled in red? can it leak its right above the area that is leaking in my whirlpool dishwasher.

The inlet hose doesnt leak which is where I would of expected to see a leak. Below this when I look under the dishwasher there is this white plastic bit which the water drips past. Its sort of on the right side just in from the door.

Float valve switch and yes, leaks can occur here. Easy fix.

so I took the entire thing out and found that the switch underneath wasnt locked into place so I replaced it back making sure everything clicked in. Turned on the dishwasher and it doesnt leak anymore but also no water sprays or enters the dishwasher when I turn it on. Ive got no idea why just from taking that one piece apart I would suddenly lose the washing ability entirely. Any ideas?

Sounds like your float valve is buggered now as it controls water coming into the dishwasher.

When you locked it into place, it might have wedge itself in the "close" position.

thanks for the tip I will disconnect the power and have another look. I dont really want to take the whole dishwasher out and fuck with it because the water inlet hose on this dishwasher is metal to plastic and really finicky to stop that from leaking. So ive just been fucking with it from the bottom access panel.

Took the entire thing apart and found that the switch had rattled off, put it all back on. Ran the dishwasher on a 1 hour wash - fucking thing rattled off in the drain phase and leaked a bit on the floor. Looks like im gonna have to replace that whole switch and switch housing - I suspect that the float itself is probably fine.

So i think that Ive fixed this now. I noticed on the drawing that there is a gasket that the assembly for the float attaches to inside the dishwasher and I ordered it just to see if this was my problem. I got home and took everything out and then noticed that the gasket inside mine was missing or maybe inadequate, it looked nothing like the gasket i purchased which was the same size as the nut that went over the top of it. I put that gasket on and then the nut and the new float and so far no leaks.

Now its leaking at the back right side, cant fucking win with this dishwasher!
@speedog Everhad a leak at the back right side?, it appears to be leaking or dripping when its on washing cycle. I fixed the float leak. I read it could be a possible puncture in the tub, although its stainless steel tub.

What I think caused this is someone put a knife in the top rack that fell during washing into the bottom and punctured the tub wall in the process. Im not sure how the tub isnt thick enough to avoid this kind of damage. Makes me think twice about knives though. Unsure what sort of compound I would use to fix the tub now though.

A hole in your dishwasher from a knife, that is about as unlikely a thing I would've ever expected to occur.

As for fixing it, probably some sort of heat resistant epoxy. Bizarre, absolutely bizarre.

Don't know of a good long term fix. If it was me, I'd just be buying a new one at this point.

Tell me about it. I just had to throw out a $1600 Bosch dishwasher because of how thin the fucking tub was. (accidentally creased the front bottom lip, no chance of it not leaking after that)

Beginning to think plastic tubs are the way to go, we've only had plastic and have never had any denting, creasing or puncture issues

Marine epoxy is applied see what it’s like in the morning. It looks like I’ve just splashed some white paint sloppily on the back of my dishwasher.

Well after 9 hours curing it still seems very epoxy like but I had the dishwasher door closed so Im going to leave it open during the day and see if it cures better, in the mean time does anyone have any brands and models they recommend? (not samsung)

In our current house we have Bosch and I am extremely happy with it. So far we had no issues at all. Touch wood.

Bosch is the one. They are quite sensitive to detergent brand, so just buy the finish all in ones and you'll be fine.

My Bosch started leaking a couple of times a year after 4 years. It was during the last leak repair that I accidentally damaged it and made it even worse. The problem with the original leaks was because of stainless steel screws in plastic holes. They loosed up over time. The thing did run great before that though, loved how quiet it was.

The marine epoxy has survived a couple of washes now. It only felt dry after 20 hours of no dishwashing. I also bought some JB weld high heat epoxy if this stuff fails.
