    You think the Air Force will publically release how many F22s were destroyed/damaged, doubt it. My guess is maybe two or three didn’t make it out and the rest flown out. Pictures I’ve seen were of remote F16s and F4s.

    You’re probably right. Rereading the article now, the base was a “total loss” but not necessarily all the planes. They did confirm 33/55 were moved to other bases but nothing definitive about the other 22

    Either way, Tyndall is/was a training base for F-22 pilots so those aircraft were not coded for combat.

    If they were left behind, they were obviously down in a maintenance cycle, but still, that’s a pretty hard loss for an extended F-22 community that doesn’t have the greatest readiness in the first place.

    well i guess they just got a whole bunch of spare parts from the wrecked planes that they can use for future maintenance?
