My experience with gas pipelines is on the gathering end, 3, 4, 6 and 8 inch mostly. Slugs of water, or condensates are common on those, but the facilities are built to handle them as well and they are generally no big deal. I would have assumed the larger transmission lines would have some kind of equipment to deal with the infrequent slugs that must occur, but I suppose the pressures and velocities are higher too.

Did you... not just read the CBC article I quoted?
You mean the article you cherry picked a section from? I did read it. And then i went and found the original article.

The concerns from the NEB were specifically related to construction of the pipelines. Notably the competency of the construction inspectors. This was back in 2012. Today, there is a much larger focus by industry to ensure both contract and FT employee's hold the appropriate competencies for the jobs they are doing. This extends farther than just pipelines as well.

So again, i am waiting for you to show me evidence that these majors are intentionally not inspecting or maintaining their pipelines. I am also waiting for you to answer my question about you being involved in the industry professionally as well although since you cherry picked my quote as well, i would assume you aren't.

Hitemp obviously has no idea based on the article quoted. Plus, nothing wrong with auditing internally or hiring 3rd party consultants. You think the regulator has high quality SMEs? LOL

As stated, no company wants to end up in the paper or cleaning up a spill or killing someone. Those costs are 10 to 10000 times more than proper integrity work.
