Apparently they are using roadside saliva tests for this. Problem is they are only about 90% accurate, and don’t work well in the cold. Only a matter of time before this hits the courts and becomes invalidated in my opinion.

For my work, our policy is basically treating it same as alcohol... can’t have it on you at a site, and can’t consume during work hours (yes we aren’t even allowed to have a beer at lunch, been that way for at least 10 years). If you have a prescription where you need to use it during work hours and safety sensitive position, you’re supposed to let your manager know... presumably so they can move you into a non safety sensitive position

so could you esentially just take CBD and not trigger those tests? Assuming you can get minimal THC and larger CBD combinations

Correct, depending on how low the thc content is. Makes sense anyways...cbd does not get you high. I know many people that take cbd oil and they are not impaired/high at all

Detection time of THC in saliva : whatever the test used, THC (the active ingredient in cannabis) can never be detected more than 4 to 6 hours in saliva. The extremely low detection level of the NarcoCheck saliva test allows to fully exploit this window of time. The detection time of our test will therefore be 4 to 6 hours after the last joint smoked, regardless of the level of consumption.

I wonder what sort of things can affect the saliva test e.g drinking and eating. I imagine this is a similar saliva test that they use for Insurance to test if you smoke or not.

Aren't they moving to blood tests at the station if you fail the field test?

CBD is different and not the chemical that's going to get you high.
There will be lower THC per vol for drinks which will cause a nice buzz but not put you over for the next day.
This is why Tinley Beverages only puts 10mg of THC in their drinks.
Good for a party. Not the pot head.

If you're wanting to get Snoop Dogg'd stick with a joint.

Curious how that is going to go for those on GDL. Apparently it's a zero tolerance, yet can't it be in your blood for a couple days after you smoke? Better dedicate a whole weekend to a friday evening toke?

Although I personally don’t use any but my clients actually encourage alcohol, drug use typically...

private companies can set any policy they want. so if zero tolerance, then it is zero tolerance for that job. they can't fire you for it, but they can stipulate that certain jobs must be zero tolerance and move you to a different job. or it could become an excuse to layofff if they can't find a job for you to transfer to.

companies can have anything they want in their policies, and you are free to do whatever you want. just that you might not like the consequence.

Yes, but with lower dosage per bottle. You can control it.
Yeah, there's a reason why it's not legal to have alcohol and THC in the same bottle.

Asked my owner about this yesterday, and it's status quo. It's expected there is no intoxication at work, which would likely lead to an inability to work.

I realized after my interest in his position made it seem like I was hoping I could come to work high. Not my intention as I never would.

My company has no formal policy but after an informal poll of the staff it seems like nobody is going to be changing thier usage patterns anyway. Management will monitor the situation.

Mine sent out an email today. No impairment at work, no use at work. Very straightforward. We're allowed to bring it to work (for example, if we intend to use after work somewhere), but it must remain hidden out of sight while on company property.

And obviously for medical use, there are exceptions as there always has been.

Ugg all anyone could talk about all day.

    No use during working hours.
Can't use for 8 hours before working if your strictly in an office environment.
Can't use for 24 hours if you have access to a company vehicle or are in a safety oriented role.
Can't use for 7 days if you are going to be working in a pressurized vessel. (and then gave the example of a submarine crew.... I think a plane would be more realistic )

They setup a designated smoking area and stipulated it can only be used outside the hours of 0500-1700.

I fully expect there to be at least a dozen updates and clarifications before end of day Friday but really doesn't affect me.

I really wish they didn’t do that... and also figure out some sort of legislation for edibles. Sucks cause you could have some really cool dinning experiences, but no one is going to pick pot over their liquor license... and infused cocktails would be so lucrative!

So... leaving a bottle of wine as a thank you on someone’s desk... okay?

....leaving a fat blunt instead... not okay?

Straight from Transport Canada, you get high, 28 days before you can work on, or fly and aircraft.

Mine might recommend to staff to actually attended their medical follow ups as there seems to be a slight advantage there still... especially after the email I received about the monthly limit being no more... can place 150g orders now haha!

We are forced to follow the rules set out by Suncor (as they are a large client of ours)
