I could see it though, I have an F-150 but let’s be honest, if you’re say looking for a minimalist domestic 1/2 ton work truck, you’re going to trade in at some point contrary to what the prepubescent fanboys will say there really isn’t a drastic difference between the domestic brands, each has their pros and cons over the competition. A dealership experience is completely fair deciding factor in that case IMO.
Still, a good service experience is 1000x more important than a good sales experience. You'll likely only deal with the sales and finance person once, maybe twice, and a place could have great sales people, and terrible service department.

Its putting your best foot forward. I would never take my vehicle to a dealership for service if the sales experience was terrible. If you don't earn my business to begin with, why would I risk going back and getting the same thing?

100% agree but service and sales inevitably fall under the same GM and a shitty managed sales department could indicate a shitty managed service department as well.

Not to mention (at least with my last experience) the problems we had with the vehicle had to be taken up with sales in the end, service just did the work and didn’t want to be (or couldn’t be) involved in any further discussions around who would cover it.
