Why did they leave that one house running? Maybe someone was home?
The homeowner told them to get away from the door through the doorbell. they have two way voice. I have the same one.

I would definitely say these are targeted break-ins. it seems odd that they would pick a house in Edmonton and a house in Calgary.

Maybe they're Nest employees, targeting nest owners to drum up more sales.

They’re not targeted. They’re going door to door looking for homes with nobody there. They’re from Edmonton based on the identification.

Agree with Busters first post on this one. They would certainly think twice about what they were doing. Probably no need for a shot even as they would scatter fast.

I run a property maintenance company and we work with a bunch of condo boards who self manage and utilize our services for all repairs and maintenance. This week we replaced ten front door locks that were damaged by break ins. These idiots are breaking into everything and doing it several days in a row. We are now installing metal overtop of the door knobs to stop them. Ugly but it stops the break ins.

Apparently they were spotted in Evanston today, the pictures are a bit potatoe-y but seem to look a lot like them.

They were in a blue minivan, keep an eye out for anything suspicious I guess!

The degrees of separate are really small now... a coworker (who doesn't look at forums or participate in social media) who is thinking about buying a ring doorbell sent me the link to this thread that he got from a friend.

damn that is close to me... My wife/kids/FIL are home during the day and I fear these guys show up and they open the door or something. I guess i better find the "protected by Ring cameras" sticker up next to the "United Alarms" sticker.

Print their photos and tape them to the door with "have you seen these men?"

You have to think like them to figure out their actions, so imagine you are really stupid... so stupid that you think that going to Calgary will prevent you from being recognized because everyone that knows you is in Edmonton.

Same goes for the safety vest, they probably think that it helps them look less suspicious... when in reality I'd be watching them like a hawk wondering wtf they are up to if I saw them walking around

I am actually not a huge fan of the discreet doorbell stuff

Nothing says don't "screw with me" like a serious camera over the door. The deterrent factor of an obvious camera to stop them cold is more valuable than actually capturing the faces of the people.
Agreed. These are dumbasses. I have white cameras installed around my dark coloured house including one pointing at the front door but I think it is not enough now. I should post a note on the door in giant red letters warning them about the cameras.

Most burglers don't seem to be deterred at all by cameras, as they don't even bother to hide their faces. They know the crime will never even be investigated, and they probably look more suspicious to neighbors or passers by with hoods/hat/shades or a balaclava.

I also wonder if they see obvious security measures as a target thinking that you are trying to protect lots of valuables? I have no idea.

Hmm... not really a hard one to figure out... hmmm... Do you think maybe that in their unbelievable intelligence they decided after a few houses in Edmonton and seeing their descriptions or their faces on local news that it might be time to travel to a location where they are less likely to be recognized? Like a city 260km to the south of Edmonton where they have different news and TV so surely NOBODY will recognize them
They did a stint in Calgary in early October before heading back to Edmonton, went after Clem's house, then got on the news.

I need a dog, after those guys coming into my house I definitely think I should have a dog. I would have known they were on the property before they touched that back door.

Dogs are great, but not all of them are great at guarding, lol. Mine can sleep through an earthquake. I've come home, made a ton of noise doing shit, then an hour later he wakes up and realizes someone is in the house and starts barking before he realizes it's just me.
