I'm attemting my V2 outdoors.
I've been lazy and haven't mounted them yet, but I bought a set of these:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I've decided that IR is useless when I can just get a motion activated light, so I'm not worried about the lens.
Good news. In the meantime the outdoor housings are relatively inexpensive. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As always the difficulty is getting power to outdoor cameras.

I have one of mine mounted outside as well, no housing, we'll see how long it lasts. Wish I knew about POE when I built my house..had no idea wtf it was and didnt get the house wired for it.

I'm doing the same thing, but I put one of my V2s inside my (attached but uninsulated) garage. That will be my test this year, because it was easier to get power there and it'll still get cold, but without the moisture/other concerns.
Also, I bought one of those external housings, and that's not gonna do shit for our weather. 2 pieces of cheap plastic with a little dome over the lens. It's not terrible, but it would need to have silicone around all the openings if it was going to be exposed to rain/wet weather. And because there's no cover on the front, you'd need to put some plexi or clear film over the lens that it could see through to protect it from the weather too.
x5 on Wyze
Installed my Lorex system this weekend. Pretty straight forward, everything powered up and works great. It records in HD to the NVR and then I can monitor at a lower resolution from my phone. There are 2 Terabytes of local storage which works out to be around 16 days of continuous recording before it needs to overwrite but I set it up to only record on movement so that should last months. Night vision is really impressive and far exceeded my expectations.
My only gripe is with the NVR interface, it's a bit clunky and not at all intuitive but I figured everything out eventually.
Perfect Dark- did you order right from the Lorex website? What was total cost? How long did it take to receive?
Thanks!

Yes, I ordered directly from Lorex...I paid $535 all in. It's listed at $599 on the website but there's a 15% code to get you to the same price.
I had to call them a couple of times to figure out what was going on with my order which was annoying. The first time was when I noticed that they hadn't actually billed me and my order status was stuck on received. This turned out to be a site error...it couldn't understand my postal code without a space so it froze the order. No one reached out to me to fix it so that ate up 5 days. Then, I called again when the status was stuck on In Warehouse for 2 weeks....ugh. This time it was because they had no stock in Canada but had lots in the US. I asked when I could expect it to ship and they couldn't tell me anything. From order date to received it was just under a month but it really should have been 10 days max if they had their shit together.
I ended up going Lorex as well on Black Friday and got this:

It's 2 POE cameras, I'm hoping its expandable for additional wifi cameras inside eventually.
Gonna install that and a ring alarm with keypad and video doorbell.

My Wyze cameras are being very hit and miss on pushing alert notifications to me. Very frustrating. It seems like I open the app, its good for a day or two and then stops the pushes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don't really like the notifications (front of house sends way too many) but also if you set a detection AREA I find it literally sends no notifications. Have to tweak the sensitivity. I just turned them all off, then occasionally I go check and see if there's any recorded clips at like 3am or an odd time and see. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Other day I woke up and there was like 3ft section of snow from my front sidewalk area kicked all over the sidewalk. Looked like a person had been walking up on my yard or something. So I checked the cameras, and at 3am a rabbit was literally having a party or something literally spinning around and kicking the snow all over the walkway WTF!!! hahahaha

All my Wyze Cams have custom detection areas set and they work perfectly as best I can tell (tons of notifications, and only when in the area). I have sensitivity reduced to about 25% because I was getting some notifications with tree shadows. At night, car headlights can also set them off if they come in just right.
Also that rabbit catch is great haha.
It might be because of my shitty internet/wifi. When I go to check the notifications, chock full of them, they just haven't been pushed >This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Are you on android? Could be that the app is put into sleep mode to conserve battery life.. Not sure. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Does anyone know where the Wyze cloud is hosted? Is it US servers or China? Reading some reviews about it and that is one of the big things turning me off right now.
From their twitter:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That is correct! The AWS servers we use are all in the US. We don't store any videos outside of the US.
sweet, that helps ease that concern. got a guy coming in for a quote on monitored solution, but if i decide to go self-monitored will def pick up 3 or 4 of these. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Has anyone had success in getting Calgary Police Service to accept the self monitored self installed alarm system? Before my vacation I filled in the $15 cheque and sent that and the completed paper work with the options ticked for self monitored / self installed?
I received this back in the post which is annoying: They also told me it was missing the check but it was definitely in the envelope.
