I use 3 of those same housings. You can mount on the siding, the provided screws easily reach the plywood behind the siding.

Thanks, ended up cancelling the single order and ordered the 3 pack from the same amazon seller for $30.

Parents have asked to help them setup a camera at the front door and in the alley. I have no idea what is needed or how to set these up, like I literally know nothing (SD card needed?battery? AC power? USB?). Wyze is mentioned here a lot so I'll probably go with that. They have the v2 camera or Pano version now? Outdoor housing needed/recommended? Is 4 MP the top resolution at the moment?

The V2 is a fixed camera with a wider view than the motorized pano. I’d recommend the above housing or the silicone housing on Amazon, but note that none of them make the camera waterproof so it needs to be protected under a roof overhang of some sort. They can work through a window with the infrared turned off. They come with a 6ft micro USB power cord and small 120v supply. Amazon has long USB cords up to 20+ ft if there is no outlet nearby and up to 3 cameras are gangable from one supply. My house cam is powered from my soffit Christmas light outlet, garage I drill a hole through the wall and plugged it in inside.

i came across this product which is pretty interesting:
    https://www.safebyhub6.com/

Basically its a hub that you plug in to your old/existing alarm system that allows you to self-monitor. Really useful for people like me where you move into a house where the old owners had an alarm system and it's already wired and ready to go. Or i guess if you previously subscribed and canceled it.

Pretty neat idea but unfortunately limited support for now only working with DSC and Honeywell systems. Hoping they release support for my old Brinks system that i have.
    That's a great find and it's a Canadian company!
I'll definitely be looking into this when my term is up in December. They cover my ADT (Honeywell) system.

Wyze released face detection today, just need to update the firmware and install the latest version of the app.

Also, i was able to grab one of the sensor starter kits while i was in the US last week. They are pretty slick and easy to use, and for $23 USD shipped you can't go wrong.

Damn, I would have asked you to pick me up a Sense in USA. They have them now on Amazon Canada BUT they only come in a kit with a camera so it's $75.

$125 tax in for just the pro sounds like the better deal

Got a link for the $125 all-in ring Pro? I still see $209 and that's even the prime day deal.

It's gone now. I ordered it and it ships tomorrow. Tried to order my brother one later on but as you note it bumped the price up to $209.

Also ordered the Echo Show 5 ($65) and Ring Alarm ($169).

Got tired of waiting for the Nest Secure. And apparently Amazon now has a "skill" to integrate my cameras to the Show 5. Hopefully they do the same thing for the ring alarm soon.

Damn, nice find. That's a good deal.

I just want Wyze to make a doorbell cam but I can't wait forever haha.

Anyone have any experience with BackStreet cameras?

A little bit pricey but the combination of POE powered with local SD card recording and the image quality looks really good.

I'm confirming if they ship to Canada.
