We got one for my wife's mother at Christmas, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference for her.

Personally, a weighted blanket sounds like torture to me, but if you're interested - and with a 100 day return - it couldn't hurt to try...

There's an existing thread on this somewhere, but basically it's a very personal thing. The idea of a weighted blanket is to (potentially) help reduce things like stress, RLS, anxiety, depression, etc. through a sense of security or "hugging" or compression sensation.

I've tried them and they're OK but I don't use one as it didn't do anything for me one way or the other.

The bigger issue IMO is washing them as you can't just throw a ~15-25lb ball into most washing machines.

I have one and like it.
got a 15lb one from amazon, biggest complaint for me is washing. You'll be paying 2-3x the cost because its a weighted blanet

Hippo hug is based in Calgary, and manufactured in Calgary too. Super wonderful people there, and they do trial loans to test em out.

We did a trial and they didn't help anyone in my messed up family, but if we wanted one, that's where I'd shop.

i got one from costco for the wife for xmas, mostly for selfish reasons, i hear its supposed to reduce snoring, it does seem somewhat effective, she wasnt a huge fan of it at the beginning but she uses it every night now.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Does it do a better job of keeping gas under the covers too? asking for a friend.

I have a 15lb double and am still unsure about it. At times I like it at times I don't. I know that I don't like it all the way up to my neck, it seems to put a lot of weight on my chest and I'm not a fan, but if I just put it on my belly button and below it seems to be nice. I wonder if I should've bought a lighter one maybe.

So how do you guys wash these things? I know many of them have removable covers, but any sweat, oils, etc. are still going to soak through to the blanket itself. I guess you could use them on top of a regular comforter, but eventually you will still need to wash it.

I have a sheet and then a comforter and then it ... I really doubt it'll get dirty so that's a problem for down the road.. No idea on washing it tbh, probably hand wish in the tub and hang dry if necessary.

Yeah probably just hand wash in a bath tub would be your best bet I guess.
