For most of my life I could go either way on halloween. I like it when I went to parties and girls used it as an excuse to dress up slutty. Fine.

But since I've had kids, I've learned to HATE halloween.

What a pain in the ass the entire thing is - from kids shitty costumes, to school costume BS, to wasting a night sitting around putting candy in bags and pretending some kid is cute in their whatever costume. Fuuuuuck.

Then at the end of it we have a pile of cheap waxy sugar the people call "chocolate' and my kids spend the next week lit on sugar before I lose it and throw the entire lot in the garbage.

Pretty sure Halloween was the instigating moment for Buster to turn into Scrooge

But I don’t have kids so can’t comment.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Because both myself and my wife were sick on Halloween, we placed a box out and asked that they only take 1 or 2 pieces. About halfway through the night, my wife went to re-fill the box and our neighbors were out. They said that they just stopped a lady with her toddler scooping candy into the bag. The lady was doing it, not her toddler. They stopped her. I think next year, we are going away as it is on the weekend. The next time we actively give out candy might be the year where we have grand kids. Other than that, MEH!!

    You bunch of rookies.

You put out the giant bowl with a sign saying take 1, and then leave it empty. You'll get credit for doing your best, people will think that you got jacked, meanwhile you're on the beach drinking a pina colada. Sticking it to the man, yo.

Does anyone else get sketchy looking people constantly driving around their neighborhood on halloween?

Im up near aspen and theres been half a dozen of the same cars with really dodgy looking people just cruising past my street slowly. One person did get out and check some candy bowls, but the rest are just cruising around in their cars.

Do you just sit at your window and watch people go by?

You sound a little sketchy as well, haha.

Given past security incidents OP had, I don't fault him being a bit more focused on comings and going in his hood.

Wow. Just wow. What a fantastic example that parent is leading with. Happy I live in an older neighboorhood where all the kids have grown up for the most part. Perhaps I'd get like 5-10 kids come by the last few years I would be home for all of this, so I just leave the lights off in the house and dont bother anymore, nobody really comes by anymore.
