Default HST Rebate for Car Purchase question?

Hey guys I made a thread yesterday about buying a car in New Brunswick, I will be going thru with it and just have one more question. The place I am buying it from will have to charge me the HST. I know you can apply and get it back but can it ever get denied or its a 100% for sure thing?

I just dont want to pay the HST and cant get it back lol...

Also is this the correct form?

    https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-age...ms/gst495.html

    Thanks in advance guys..

Have you talked to the dealer? Do they HAVE to charge it? My dealer out of BC just never charges me and only charges GST. I never have to go through the form, or any of that.

Ah well if it's a good enough deal then I guess not a huge issue. Just do the form and apply for rebate that way, just a little bit of hassle I suppose.

I’ve bought from Saskatchewan before and as soon as they knew I was not local they readied the correct form for me.

I didn’t have to do much and they didn’t charge the PST portion. HST is the combined which we pay the GST portion of course.

EDIT: the form was from the ministry of finance for Saskatchewan:

Exempt motor vehicle sales certificate for non-residents, status Indians or Indian bands.

Does New Brunswick have a similar??

The dealership is being pretty anal about it for some reason. I told them I will get the registration here in Alberta and it will not even be registered in NB. They keep saying no.. sorry I have no idea if it’s the same as SK..

Buster can you help me? I PM you but no reply..

Tag him properly so he can get a notification @Buster

No idea about your question personally as I have never had to do the form.

Hi @BensonTT . Sorry just got your PM.

I'm pretty sure it was the 495 form. But this was about 10 years ago, so my memory is shaky.

It’s the 495 form as I just got my HST rebate from purchasing a BMW winter wheel/tire package from Toronto. It’s a bit goofy that they set up a business number for you but the check takes about 3-4 weeks.

I wonder how much is because we're the only province that doesn't pay, bc and Sask would have more experience with it.
