Canada post rotating strikes - November 2018 - does anyone care?

Gf shipped a package earlier this week via Canada post, was 3.4 lbs, pretty small box as well. $40 for PEI to Calgary. I sent a package today via FedEx, 7lbs, larger box than the one my gf sent out earlier this week - $31 PEI to Red Deer, this was FedEx ground 6 business day.

Outside of basic mail and letters, I don't see any point in sending parcels via CP, more so after this strike.

That's strange I wonder if Canada Post has surge pricing for the holidays or something. The few things I've had to ship this year CP has always been cheaper than UPS / DHL / FedEx based on the calculators.

I had the exact opposite experience when quoting yesterday. FedEx was $98 to NL, CP was $31...both ground with arrival around the same time
