Default Calgary Property Tax Rates to Jump 25%+ Next Year

Well, that should be fun for ya'll.

Somebody talking about this on FB said that Calgary property taxes have actually only kept pace with inflation. Up here in Edmonton, in the past decade business property tax has tripled.

I thought city is phasing out business taxes, and just increasing commercial property tax instead. And instead just tax the property. This had been in the works since 2011-2012 ish. Iirc

Where did you find the 25%+ number? Article just mentions shortfall no mention of how much residential will see as an increase. Sounds like click bait.

Click bait thread title at its finest. There is no discussion yet of the increases for residential, this is all non-residential as far as I can tell. Residential will no doubt have to go up but obviously not like that.

I read somewhere that residential will all be going up $200+, so probably not 25% unless you live in the NE. they put it off for 2 years so it would change their chances at re-election
