Default Best Bluetooth Headphones (Over-ear for Music and Voice Calls)

Subject says it all - looking for solid over ear bluetooth headphones that have a mic for voice calls built-in (not gamer/call center style but in the earpiece).

Good battery life, foldable, and jack for travel when I don't want to use bluetooth would be a great bonus.

Currently rocking Sony MDR-XB950BT and really like them but they're getting pretty beat-up as they're several years old - hoping I might find a set with better sound quality as well.

If you make a lot of calls, and are indoors, the gamer style with the boom are pretty good.
If your calls are outdoors, you really need noise cancelling, Sony wh-1000xm4 of Bose 700 should he good. Serious price tags.

Rtings has a lot of reviews and comparisons.

    Thanks - I'll check Rtings.

I still travel a lot so I just want something that does it all well - but mostly listening to music in a co-working space with the ability to take occasional calls.

I don't really care about noise cancelling but definitely don't want a boom so I can use them on the bus/train/plane/etc.

Noise cancelling is awesome. Especially the Sony that lets voices through. The built in mic works for calls. The MX4 is probably the best in class. Bose QC35 is very comfy and good too.

What's your price range and will you be gaming? A lot of gaming headsets have detachable or retractable booms.

There were some really good deals recently.

    +1 to Sony WH-1000 XM4.
I don't have the M4 however I have been using M3 for well over 18 months and I am really happy with it.

The Sony wh-1000xm4 are on sale in North America right now for black Friday. Not sure about your region. Still expensive.

I'll definitely look into the Sony.

I'm not into gaming at all - but do like good sound quality for listening to music (often at co-working spaces) and being able to quickly switch to video/voice calls when needed. Just need a "do it all" headset since I travel light.

What does a retired guy need with sophisticated voice-call headphones?

He just hangs out in rhe coworking space to work on his ambitous buffy the vampire slayer x ewok fanfic novella. And he likes the coffee.

    Interesting.

I thought most fire people sat around making their own pickles and calculating how long they are going to live.

I found the Logitech to be comfy. Sound quality for music is slightly above average but not as good as any of the ones below. Best mic if you are using it with a PC. https://www.logitechg.com/en-ca/prod...81-000906.html

Sennheiser PXC 550-II has good sound and is on sale for $260!! https://www.amazon.ca/Sennheiser-PXC...6834143&sr=8-5

Sennheiser Momentum has great sound but I don't think it's foldable. https://www.amazon.ca/Sennheiser-Mom...NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Bose QC 35II is also on sale for $269. https://www.amazon.ca/QuietComfort-W...6834228&sr=8-3

Sony MX3 still on sale for $300: https://www.amazon.ca/Sony-WH1000XM3...6834417&sr=8-5
Difference between this and MX4 is multi-device connection and slightly better mics.

For the Noise Cancelling Wireless, I would rank Sony MX4, Bose QC35II slightly above the Sennheisers, then the Bose 700 below them. I think the Bose earpads are the most comfortable, but Sony has the most features.
Do I need to gwill any of the above? Cost + KFC. That's all I ask.

    There's always a hater.

Didn't realize retirement meant giving up traveling, photo editing, hobbies, listening to music, and chatting with friends and family.

I have the MX3 and itís a workhorse. Although connecting from laptop to iPhone is a lot of connect disconnect. Sennheiser is alright but the mic on those are subpar vs the Sony. Iíve also had issues w their multi device connect; got confused when Teams rang both devices simultaneously

The benefit of masks is not known at this time. But we do know it is some non-trivial amount more than zero.

We also know that the cost of mask use is, essentially, zero.

So the cost:benefit of mask use is approaching infinity. I'll take that every time. And every time I see someone without a mask, I think they are stupid.

At this price, QC35 is a no brainer IMO.

Thanks man - very helpful. I'm currently in Bulgaria so will need to check prices here.

There's currently an annoying Israeli guy video chatting across for me so maybe the NC is more important than I thought!

I used the Sony's ambient noise feature extensively when I was trying out for the budget hipster gang at the local Starbucks. Best part is that people don't know you can hear them so they start talking about your horse cock while seated 2 ft away.

Loved my XM2. Looking forward to receiving XM4. I'm surprised a traveler like you have not got a NC headset yet. Really drown out the noise on flights.

Good airlines offer NC in Biz class these days as standard equipment.

Sennheiser Momentum has great sound but I don't think it's foldable.
I have the Momentum 2's and unless they've changed it in version 3, they're foldable. Haven't looked at reviews lately but last I heard the Momentum 3's didn't do very well in reviews, I thought I saw some people say that they preferred the Momentum 2's more.

OP: Sony XM4 is the way to go for your use case.
