I haven't tried any of that. I guess will give it a go tonight when at home.

When wife showed it to me the other day, my first reaction was we need a new TV and she's like no you don't look into it and see if it can be fixed. lol.

Didn't think there would be any DIY way I could fix something like that so I didn't bother researching. Did contact Samsung and they said since no warranty contact our authorized repair shop in Edmonton. They told me to fuckin email them pics, which I haven't heard back anything on in 2 days. So figured if someone here knows whether the issue is even fixable or the TV is a goner, may save me some time. Haha.
Also If you want to contact any of the Authorized repair shops (Thanks to Google ) ,

If a tech is going to pay a visit it might cost you around $300 Including the part.

Not really a deal, but looks like a good TCL year coming for tv junkies. 115” at 5000nits peak. Let’s see if benchmarks show it or an exaggeration.

Their 98” model gets the 5000 nits too.

Not your usual TV reviewer but he sneaked one of out China and activated it using Chinese staff's dad's Chinese phone number.

Now, wonder if Costco will carry this and how people will be carrying this 400lb thing out the store.

Hey guys, I'm way out of date on the latest nomenclature and the various brands' alphabet soup model numbers etc. I was just looking at a Best Buy promo that keeps landing in my email (the game day superbowl one) and thought a 75" would be a nice upgrade over my old 60" samsung. I don't even have a 4K display in our household at all yet.

There is quite a spread of what might appear to be more or less the same TV, but obviously there has to be more in the finer details. How does one navigate this spectrum? Are the ones at the low end essentially junk? Is there a value "sweet spot" somewhere in that list?

This is Best Buy current sale pricing:

    Samsung 75" 4K UHD HDR UN75CU7000FXZC 1099.99
    LG 75" 4K UHD HDR 75UQ7590PUB 1099.99

    Sony 75" 4K UHD HDR KD75X77L 1299.99
    Samsung 75" 4K UHD HDR UN75CU8000FXZC 1299.99

    Sony X80K 75" 4K UHD HDR KD75X80K 1399.99

    Sony X85K 75" 4K UHD HDR LKD75X85K 1599.99

    Samsung 75" 4K UHD HDR QLED QN75Q80CAFXZC 1799.99

    Samsung 75" 4K UHD HDR QLED QN75Q70CAFXZC 2099.99

    Sony 75" 4K UHD HDR XR75X90L 2199.99

I bought a 65” Sony X90L from Costco two weeks ago for $1698. It dropped last week to $1498. Very easy to get the difference refunded in store. Overall, very happy with the tv in our bright family room.

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with that site. From my first quick glance, it looks like to get a TV that's scoring in the green across the board, you're looking at $3000+ cdn for 75". I guess i need to somehow figure out how good or bad the scores in yellow are. lol

85" X90L was down to $2600 for bf and boxing day. I can't remember how much 75 was.

Sony X90 is always the sweet spot. As many said, X90L was $2K at BF but what's $200 if you need one ASAP.

Also check Visions as well, they may beat Best Buy if do self pick up and they give 2 year warranty by default to match Costco. But may be a bit harder with 75" for self pickup.

Costco sells the extended warranty for about half the cost of what visions does so I always stick there. $130 for 4 extra years beyond the original 2.

Are extended warranties really worth it on TVs though? I know they don't last nearly as long as they used to, but we still might be talking 8+ years on a modern flatscreen, vs. 20+ for CRTs from yesteryear. Are TVs really crapping out between 2-4 years?

Yes, buy from Costco with extended. They will fix the TV if it breaks and if they can't they will cut you a cheque for full price.

In the last 30 years, of all the TVs I have bought, only 2 that failed on me. But both at years beyond extended coverage, so my case would be a no for extended warranty. But if you are giving me 1 more year than factory for "free", I'll take it.

I don't expect to need it but at the same time $130 to cover my 3k TV seemed like a reasonable gamble. Even if only once in my life it ends up paying off that still comes out way ahead.

My Sony has started randomly turning off. Sounds like I may have won the Costco lottery?

What kind of diligence is involved with getting a refund

Same, I think it was $99 for an extra 4 years for my X95K which was $5,500. Cheap insurance for a year 1 mini-LED TV.

That is really good. Can you buy those extended warranties online, or only with an in-store purchase?
