I'm still running a Pixel 2. No issues and bought it new.
Updates stopped for OS a year ago. Still good though.
I'm sure I'll be updating eventually in near future once apps stop being supported.
You're often still OK with v5.0 or 6.0 and above these days but it varies by individual device (for example with a popular app like Facebook, support varies by device and version, and as such they don't even list a specific minimum requirement). One thing app developers look at is market share and 4.X is around 4%, 5.X is around 9%, and it goes up from there with the most being around 30% with 9.X. You have a LONG way to go before you run into app issues on your Pixel 2. The battery will need replacement before you have any significant problems with app support. No reason it should slow down significantly either unless certain resource-hungry apps get specifically optimized for certain newer hardware.

Thanks guys. I didn't know the ins and outs of the apps.
After covid my battery is getting decimated with online meetings. So that'll die first like you've said.

I'm also still using a Pixel 2 XL. The only thing this phone and my last have had issues with is the charging cable going in and actually charging as it doesn't quite click in anymore -- if I could clean it somehow while not destroying my phone trying to take it apart....

I run into that issue quite often as I keep my phone in my pocket with the charge port up so it tends to collect lint and crap till it cannot charge. I find if you use a tooth pick you can clean it out fairly well.

I I've done the tooth pick too.
Also a small q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
Obviously, phone off when doing that. But tooth pick first to get the big stuff out.
