So while we all called it as unlikely I am hearing in pretty certain terms that CNQ did indeed let ~200 go.

And that the Husky cuts were far larger than thought ( 500+, 2-300 of which in Calgary ).
The fuck? Did CNRL buy Devon and then let them all go?

I'd like independent confirmation because that killramos dude is not trustworthy.

I always trust rumours said over Dim Sum.

That said, I didn’t hear any details.

No they didn't as per deal on taking on the employees.
Heard a bunch of Devon people have already quit.
    Less than 50.

Silver Dragon when they are running carts, perfect lunch spot. Otherwise U&Me ( though I heard they shut down recently cause the owner stuck up some customers lol ).

Otherwise I have heard TPot in harvest hills is solid.

But what do I know, I’m white.

All solid choices. T Pot is going high end in price without the food to match imho.

Central Grand is my jam if I'm not downtown. I think SD and Central Grand are the only 2 that still run carts in this town if you want that to be part of the experience.

Wish more places had carts. Even though I know what they all look like, being able to see it and think about if you want it is fun.

I miss the old Singapore Sam's in the NE when it was good. That must have been like 15 years ago, lol.

Silver Dragon is GOAT. Forbidden Palace doesn't do carts, right?

You mean Forbidden City? Ya it's not carts there.

Silver Dragon is OK for Calgary standards I guess, I don't really like it. Maybe I'm being snobby though because I really enjoy San Fran and some Vancouver places a lot more.

Oh sorry. Yeah, not comparable to Van or San Fran but our pho is better here than there so there's a win somewhere!

Anyways, back on topic: That's a lot of damage for Husky. Best of luck to those people! I'm sure their packages are great.

Heard it was mostly older folks at Husky, though not exclusively. My buddy's Dad wanted to get a package last round and finally got it this round. He was so stoked lol.

I always wonder how the packages compare as the rounds go on. When my brother was at field servicing company he kinda wanted a career change anyways so was hoping for a package but ironically survived every round of layoffs. But what he noticed from talking to people that got let go is the first cut definitely got a way better deal (even though they were the most dead weight) whereas the third and fourth round cuts basically got the bare minimum for severance. Kinda ironic the longer you last the worse deal you get.

Penn West was the same way.
No doubt that's ironic. Let the dead weight go for cheap.

I already voted but lost my job 3 weeks ago. No room for me in the budget

I kinda fucked myself by training a new employee and they are having one of the welders try and do drawings lol
About a week after my termination they tried to get me on contract for 3d models etc. I said no thanks our professional relationship is over.

I dunno. Laid off and immediately getting a contract is kindof the dream? Eat that glorious package and you still have a job.

Talked to a contractor who survived and he said Peabody told everyone it was 300 cut.

I know someone who got packaged out; got re-hired as a contractor.

    Genius.

That's what a lot of people in the military do. Earn their 25 year pension, leave, and go back as a contractor the next day, literally doubling their paycheque overnight.

The drawback is having to be in the military for 25 years.

Confirmed as well - few old colleagues were let go
