We have already increased our national debt by 33% in one year with no line of sign to better times.

What corporate welfare do we expect, our country is broke as a joke.
We're a third there. Might as well go HAM

Well we just got another credit downgrade so that should totally help.

    Government debt is great.

    Moody's>Fitch

Also back in the office and I missed it <3

I can't do WFH full time if I'm given a choice because there's heavy construction in my block. Just too noisy.

Oh I’m sure Moody’s will follow once we cross the magic trillion of debt ( for a country of 30MM people )

The term "Bantam" has finally been cleansed from our society. It was pulled down the drain along with "Midget" in children's hockey.
I'm not making this shit up. Haven't you noticed how much better all our lives are?!

Probably now a hate crime to refer to small roosters as "Bantams" so I assume the new name is something with a # in it.

WestJet has laid off 3,333 workers and is planning to consolidate and contract out much of its operations as the pandemic continues to sink the majority of demand for air travel.

The Calgary-based company had 14,000 staff before pandemic border closures and travel restrictions grounded two-thirds of its fleet, WestJet said in Wednesday's announcement.

Right now, just 4,500 employees are on payroll and WestJet is looking for ways to bring back 5,500 employees temporarily laid off.

    Wednesday's layoffs are permanent.

Enbridge offers pension and benefits for life too. It's pretty much an ideal place to retire from after many years of service.

    Small roosters = not okay.

Small cocks = okay. One can say they have a bantam cock and not have to worry about discrimination. You know what you are.

For those of you involved in the Oil and Grass Industry, Aurora MJ has decided to close more than half of their production facilities. This includes the facility in Cremona that is a customer of mine and employs numerous people I know here in Cochrane. Pretty much throwing all their chips into the new growop at Edmonton International airport and dumping everything else.

Almost all national airlines are getting government bailouts. Surprisingly, no direct money from our Fed yet. And sounds like that wage subsidy isn't worth it as expected.

Honestly, I dont pity big corps that have little to no reserves in times of crisis. They expect bail out every time shit hits the fan. Hence they abuse the inflow of cash into shareholder pockets or share buy backs. I would say, let them fold and pay more money to those who lost their jobs instead. Billions of tax dollars going into these airlines only trickle down a little to the working class, if any.

If you are referring to airlines specifically, I would much rather see the money going into innovating new travel technologies. Invest in tunneling tech and vacuum/tube train system like hyperloop. Seems farfetched, but given the down time in travels and indefinite airline struggles, why not take this opportunity and time to innovate and invest in a new mode of transport?

Also, bail out for major corporations should be subject to a solid short and long term business plan. So far, the bail out looks like addicts asking for money to support the next fix.

An airline is not a business with a core competency of speculating on, or developing new technologies. An airline is a marketing, and customer service entity, that leases their capital equipment and contracts out most of their operations. I doubt that the shareholders would support a management team that utilized capital to speculate or try to pivot into an R+D enterprise. A shareholder would rightfully conclude that they can speculate better themselves, or they could take the excess capital that they have earned in the airline and deploy it in other corporations that specialize in R+D or handing it to professionals who invest in R+D.

Perhaps all of the technologies that you listed are amazing and viable....but that does not mean that an airline is the optimal source of capital to develop those projects.

    It’s a low margin business.

Most airlines only keep 100 days worth of cash flow.

I think the only bulletproof company is SNC lulz. Why ask for a bailout when you just get all the work handed to you!!
