It's the best way to distract people from a crumbling economy. Worried about your future? Here's some free heroin!

BC residents are actually blind to what really goes on in their province. They get a ton of cash from coal exports to Asia and India but they're reluctant to be out front about it.
So no matter what social media simps want, the big boys are going to do what's best and having beneficial agreements on a separate country, BC would join.

Kelowna might turn into the Gaza Strip for a while but long term everyone would benefit.
I'll say it once, I'll say it again: Metallurgical coal will be burned until civilization falls.

Sounds like people want to leave BC and Ontario now too over housing. Too bad the same people probably vote for the Liberals who, along with the BoC, have inflated the RE bubble.

I've never seen that before - pretty good.

Liberal math somehow still makes more bureaucracy + more immigration + more taxes = affordable housing

I still haven't figured it out the equation works myself.

People often convince themselves of NIMBY-ism by wrapping it in "liberal values".

But but Canadians don't want to live in Alberta any more

I like that the best example they could find for the article is a yoga instructor who moved to van island

BC is ok, people like Jess will fill in the vacancies.

So people are leaving AB due to lack of jobs and BC/ON due to housing affordability. Where are they going? SK? QC? Maritimes?

    Nova Scotia.
    https://www.statista.com/statistics/...s-nova-scotia/

Rental market is hot in Halifax. There is almost no vacancy and if there are 2 bedroom condos are running for $1800-$2200/mth.

And that chart only shows interprovincial and not international. Nova Scotia remain the be the only province still have a lax skill worker class immigration.

As for BC, there is RE management professional shortage. Beijing is tightening the grip around HK and Van is getting ready for sudden return of 200-300k+ Canadian passport holders in HK.

Capital is fleeing China, especially from the 2 SARs.

Nova Scotia, and not just Halifax. My brother is in the service and couldn't find a rental near the base and ended up buying a house. Apparently everything is going to bids over asking. He lost out on a few as he is at a significant disadvantage to somebody from Toronto that is selling a house and moving. Service people usually are priced out of hot markets due to relatively low wages and short postings making it hard for spouses to find regular employment.

I could retire today if I moved to small town Saskatchewan. Actually have a cousin who did that basically. Was in his 30s and left a $130k job here to mow lawns and shovel snow there and he says he's money ahead every month.

I should hope so. Shoveling snow would be a miserable way to earn a living. I'd have to make significantly more than I do now for me to remotely consider it.

Depends how shitty your current job is. And I'm pretty sure he has one of those bigger JD lawn tractors with a brush on it for most sweeping so he's not breaking his back.

I'm not sure about his definition of "retire".
