Sodium batteries are on the way.
Sure they are heavier and bulkier, but they also work in Canadian winters.

Portugal or Spain are both great if you can get into their special tax system (NHR in Portugal, Beckham Law in Spain) though I prefer more countries with less bureaucracy and taxation like Bulgaria. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I only ended up in Spain because my wife's Grandmother is 94 and she wanted to spend time with her. I mean, Spain isn't all bad but it's not a place to move if you're working unless you get that special tax deal (which I couldn't before as it was only meant for moving to work for a Spanish company, though the new digital nomad visa which may allow for the Beckham Law could appeal to some).
I'd enjoy day trading but can't even do that because of their retarded wealth taxes. Basically, I'm just trying to set myself up to only incur capital gains from investments held >1 year as the wealth tax is limited to 60% of income, with an exception for CGs held >1 year. Thus no income, no interest, no dividends, and no short-term gains. Basically, the typical socialist stupidity that discourages productive behaviour.
So yea, I retired at 36 and can't even freelance or make a little money on the side. There's a lot of good to be said for Spain (weather and affordable gym/internet/phone/bars plus delicious and amazing food) for sure but as far as trying to run a hobby business or freelance it's absolutely horrible so I've just had to change my life goals a bit and spend my time at the gym, enjoying the mountains/beaches, and reading/learning for my own benefit.
Comrade Trudeau has basically been trying to implement all of the things I hate about Spain in Canada, plus the cost of living is higher and weather is worse, so from that perspective I'm not sad about being here vs back home.
Wasn't sure if this fit better in the Trudeau has to go thread. But the video title pointed to this thread
Seemed an appropriate thread for this
Ottawa planning to reduce volume of international students in certain provinces: source | CBC News
So immigration is a problem, so lets reduce it where our votes are and let the flooding continue elsewhee.Ottawa planning to reduce volume of international students in certain provinces: source
A senior government source pointed to Ontario, B.C. and Nova Scotia as possible examples
I think the solution to international students isn't reducing volume, just triple the price. Maybe 5x the price. We should be subsidizing our universities on the backs of rich foreigners.
Also, the majority of immigration should be wealthy people.
make Canada rich again!

Pretty much... Also notice too that they are cool with reducing the people who they don't have to angle for future votes but wanting to bring in more of the type that will keep them in power eventually? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Maybe Canada will have both fewer schools and higher quality ones?

Our schools need that schweet schweet international student money, but public services being public services, they don't really know what the price point is where students complain about how much they're paying but still pay. They only teach L’Hospital’s Rule, they don't actually apply it.
Canadian passport is powerful

Then fast tracked to citizenship once they "graduate".
I think we need to limit foreign students to accredited schools. Not one of these diploma mills at strip mall on 32nd Ave NE

Small business is also loving this scam, they get a bigger pool of people working min wage.
On surface, it's win/win/win/win. Schools earn money ripping students off. Small businesses get min wage work force. Liberals may get more voters. Investors of best asset class get stonk.

Interesting write up on current CPP you guys should give a read.

Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Nothing ground breaking in there, just a highlight of why so many people are fed up with CPP. Some of the comments are a strong base case of why we should be able to euthanize a good portion of Reddit users. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Crazy how many people think that a government sponsored pension program is so important to society. It's like they don't understand that you can only collect from it, if you paid in. If you're a reddit commie who is so concerned about irresponsible seniors having some form of retirement pension, then why not advocate for the government making a law that forces people to invest that current CPP contribution with a licensed money manager? The government steals that money from your paycheck either way, at least if it was managed by a credible agency, you'd get an 8-10% return, instead of the virtually nothing it stands to return for everyone currently contributing.
The real dream of our country is to receive more from government than we pay in. The sad part is that it's really hard to convince these people why that's mathematically unlikely.
Lots of folks believe in perpetual motion machines.
