Default Estimating value of a private company

Does anyone have a method for estimating value or size of a private company? Specifically looking at Ledcor, PCL and Cana. I am guessing that Ledcor is the largest of the three due to the telecom and highway maintenance divisions, but that's just a guess.

If I have learned anything on Dragon's Den, Company valuations by the Dragons seem to deem the company's value to be 5x the company's yearly sales.

Cant answer your question specifically but Cana is massive in the electric utility market and Ledcor was doing some telecom stuff last time I was dealing with them.

Without. I think it would be pretty easy to do with the statement. Some multiple of revenue minus debt.

This is mostly just a thought exercise. Those of you who know me know I'm not acquiring any of these companies any time soon.

2-3x annual earnings. More if the company has significant assets that are exploitable or valuable. Less if revenues are tied to seasonal or topical streams.

For something that big, market share and value of the industry is an interesting road to go down. Can probably find some analyst reports in the public realm to that nature.

Pretty much any information you can find on operating data to build something from the ground up will help put collars on value. Press releases projects and timelines. Etc. PR’s from major clients.

End of the day you would want a look up the skirt for dd in any case.
