Nearly 50 minutes long but an excellent presentation by Chris Sublicki. The CBC should be broadcasting this across Canada.

This guy's a good speaker. Nothing groundbreaking if you work in this industry, but very informative if you're not immersed in this stuff.
Love the assumption that if you aren't a PC/UCP voter, you're automatically Anti-oil.
By very nature of what you are voting for, you are. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I didn't believe it in 2015, but my eyes have been opened. People who actually support the NDP/Liberals in Alberta do agree with closing O&G down. They just think the government can hire more people to make up for the job losses
I just came back from this presentation at the CAPP event today. The idea is to educate people in O&G on how to spread the message to non-O&G people. Stop the vilification of our industry, our province, and our country.
That's great news. I'm glad he's continuing to do more and more presentations. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Chris will be an excellent ambassador for the industry.
While I agree wholeheartedly, overcoming the cognitive dissonance that is prevalent throughout much of Canada is a whole other challenge in and of itself.

Alberta won't be saved by education and a PR campaign. That ship has sailed.
I didnt vote PC, yet was working in oil and gas. I am 100% pro oil and pro pipeline. And wont be voting PC this time around either. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Maybe true, but I think it has a better chance of success than Alberta separation TBH. Without tangible alternatives, we have to start somewhere. Let's not shoot down a possible solution without offering up an alternative solution, because that is easy and lazy, just like doing nothing. At a minimum, it stands up to the likes of Tides and Dogwood. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There is this term called cognitive dissonance. You should look it up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That is 100% the case. How many ministers do you need chanting 'no more pipelines' before you accept that the NDP are anti oilThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You couldn't even link the article? What is this, Facebook?
Note however I didn't speak for any of the party's views, only that just because someone isn't PC/UCP doesn't mean they are anti-oil. I just disagree with more of what they stand for, than what they propose. There's more to politics than just pipelines. I also prioritize my life differently than most on here it seems, hence why I don't share the same opinion.
Federal NDP vs Provincial NDP seem quite different. I can't see how Notley is doing worse than what some bible thumping 50 year old white dude could do.
The problem is that it's basically AB vs everyone. Not that I support the idea - but I bet if AB was an american state, we'd be back in the boom times. The squeeky minority in Canada constantly hamper ABs ability to succeed

Show QuoteI'll admit the title was somewhat clickbait as I wanted to encouarge Liberal/NDP/Green voters to watch the video. I personally don't particularly like many PC/UCP policies and I am much further left than they are on most social issues but I view Canada's growing debt, deficit, and uncompetitive as the biggest issue facing the country at this time. I fully expect a larger recession than the GFC in the next 20 years and Canada does not have the policy tools or financial position in place to handle it. Since I see that as the biggest issue facing the country, I would reluctantly vote PC/UCP.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But the point of this thread is to simply raise awareness as to how ridiculous and unintelligent the Lib/NDP/Green position on energy is. The provincial NDP may have started pushing a pro-energy agenda over the last year but if anyone sees that as something other than trying to gain votes in the next election then they must have not been paying attention to the first 2 years of their governance where they did everything possiblt to dismember Alberta's key industry.

Ya people forget that unlike most other parties which sometimes share names... The ndp are actually the same party provincially and federally. I don't think you can be a member of one and not the other.

She's shifted to the right (for the benefit of Alberta, after she finally figured out we run on Oil & Gas) over the past 4 years that she's landed probably were the old PCs were!
I've alway liked Rex Murphy! This is a great watch/listen too!

Last I checked the leader of the federal NDP was against the pipeline... That's enough evidence for me to draw the conclusion that they do not act in the same manner. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
