Default SpaceX Launch and General Info Thread

Surprised ExtraSlow wasn't on top of this with a MEGA thread, searched but didn't seem to be one.

Starship SN8 15km "hop" coming this week. Truly amazing to be witnessing what SpaceX has accomplished in two decades, let alone the past 10 years. When I stop and think about it, if somebody had told an 18 year old me back in the early 2000's that we'd have reusable "starships" in 20 years that land standing upright, I'd have laughed.

I've been chatting about it elsewhere, but no mega thread yet. Thanks for making one. I like space exploration, and I like reusable rockets that land upright quite a bit.

That thing looks so ridiculous and fake and awesome and I love it.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

To be fair there was no internet 27 years ago so it’s not surprising that this is perceived as new technology.

Maybe not as we know it today, but we most definitely had internet in 93

But if you wanted to download that video it'd take 2-3 days at 14.4k

    Reliably cheap reusable starship.

Space Shuttle was reusable, just not cheap.

It's in the right direction especially this will be even cheaper than Falcon 9 in operation (cost/payload) and eventually will also become refuel station in orbit for moon/mars missions.
