Default Problems with a 17 year old, where to send him in Calgary?

So we are having issues with our little brother that lived with us....

We kicked him out and got him a room rental 2 months ago. The landlord just phoned me and said he is ready to kick him out for smoking in the house.

Short story but are there are places were young can go live in Calgary, homes or what not?

I don't think I understand the question. Sounds like he needs somewhere he'll be supervised? Does he need some kind of treatment or rehab?

The streets is usually a good place for them. They either figure out real quick that it sucks and they get their shit together. Or they go the route of my brother and figure out they have no rock bottom, stay on the street and save you a lot of hassle in the future.

Or if you want to try some scare tactics first, you can take him down to the mustard seed and show him what his future holds if he doesn't smarten up.

Thats actually a decent idea - but framed a non-scary, non angry way (unemotional way) - but rather a realistic view of what happens in the real world when you decide to give up or act out
    .

Some kids at 17 just dont care either (aspie?) and there isnt much you can really do except love and support them in a very distant, minimal way.

    Why'd you kick him out?

Better yet, take him there and have him volunteer and serve for a meal.

Send him to that A & E Scared Straight show. They take you to prisons and morgues.

This reminds me of what happened with my brother when he was 17. He was rude, uncontrollable, violent etc. My parents had enough and packed his shit up and put it in duffle bags on the front steps. When he came home, he saw his stuff and asked just exactly where he was supposed to go. My parents suggested the Mustard Seed. His response, was that his shit was "too expensive" for the Mustard Seed. hahah

I'm curious as to this as well. Of course, if I'd ever smoked in my parents house, god damn, I probably wouldn't be alive.

And no, that's not me saying my parents beat me or anything. Just that sheer level of disrespect wouldn't ever have been allowed.

We have simple rules in the house. No smoking in the house and no going in our room. He broke both of those simple rules.

Let me get something straight, he is a good kid but fails to follow super simple rules put in place.

At this point he needs a lesson in life where you don’t get “free” anymore.

I just want to point him in the right direction of a place to stay, that’s all.

You did that and he got kicked out of there too. Maybe point him to rentfaster or something?

    Third times a charm?

I think that is what the whole family has decided now. He got evicted when he got home from school tonight and has to figure it out! Hopefully this life lesson sinks in with him.

Would have been much easier just to live the good life with family!

People learn 2 different ways. By Metaphor or 2x4. Your brother sounds like someone that learns everything the hard way. It's tough to watch unfold, but if you're not enabling him any longer he will be far better off in the future.

Well since he’s been evicted from his rental house his phone hasn’t been on and GPS tracking in unavailable.

His parents are a little worried but at this point there is really nothing we can do! His landlord is a little upset though, trying to figure out when his stuff is going to leave the room.

Well hopefully a little adversity will help him realize food is more important than darts.

Some people are just screw ups, cut your losses.
