Where is here? I don't know when Alberta became Ontario? I've been out of school for almost 20 years now, so it's possible things changed.
times changed, Misterman.
Wat? Here is Alberta... 10-12 for as long as my memory goes backThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Regardless, the joke was always reaching that fourth year of highschool.
So based on the conversation, it’s the easier three years of his life. So hopefully he sticks it and passes.

A lot of school districts that use the "middle school" instead of a junior high school system have grade 9 in high school. It's not like it's legislated provincially, districts are free to put whatever grades in whatever buildings fit the students. This isn't a new thing, it was around back when I in school. Although maybe not when Speedog was . . .This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Everyone was in the same classroom when speedog was in grade school
But regardless of school structure we still have 3 distinct levels of school... each is concluded with a provincial exam
Not if your district does middle school. Then it's k-4, 5-8, and 9-12.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The provincial exams are... provincial. Are you saying there are districts out there that don’t have a grade 9 achievement test?!This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Re-read the last line he was responding to, then you should understand what he means. Talking about grade 9 achievement tests while failing reading comprehension makes me chuckleThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I’m not the one failing at comprehension here...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You know writing a test at the end of grade 9 isn't intended to grant you graduation from that building to a high school building, right? It's just a grade 9 test, to evaluate all students in grade 9, regardless of it being labelled junior high or high school. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My wife grew up in springbank and they have 5-8, 9-12 (still do), but they write provincials in gr 9 just like everyone else.
That’s the exact point I’m making... regardless of the structure of the schools that don’t follow the 7-9, 10-12 structure... we still test everyone in 6, 9, and 12...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Grade 9 dictates what course you will take for the rest of your schooling, so it’s clearly a completely different grade than 10,11, and 12... which have completely different course and structure to the school day. So in Alberta even if you are in a building that is 9-12... high school is obviously still 10-12
