Nothing is final yet but that's still the plan. Not concerned at all. Oil comes out of turbos just fine, ever ran one with the drain hose off? I've built many many turbo cars both for myself and for work, on all sorts of random platforns.

No, I have never pulled the drain off to watch it come out. My previous car used roller rockers/cam followers and hydraulic lifters and was pretty sensitive to breakage of the rockers if things got too hot or too much oil volume in the head so I would never have considered plumbing it that way (although it wouldn't have worked without a scavenge pump anyways since it was a typical transverse 4 cylinder.) The goal with that engine was to reduce oil pressure and volume to the head. Are you planning on using some off the shelf EJ manifolds or custom?

Custom building myself using the N/A header as a starting point.

Knocked out all the exhaust fab today, decided the best spot for the turbo was in a traditional rotated location.

    Up-pipe and downpipe

Turbo location and planned A2W IC location

Entire exhaust with a nice quiet dynomax muffler

Still lots to do, but this was the first big step. Nothing more motivating than hanging a turbo onto something.

Took off the up pipe and downpipe, wrapped them with some blue exhaust wrap I bought like 7yrs ago and never used. Sanded flanges flat and installed everything for good.

Removed the valve cover and welded in a fitting for oil drain, then made my feed and drain hoses. Car now runs with the turbo on. Engine bay is kind of a mess right now, it'll be tidy when everything is done.

The blue wrap sets the whole engine bay off!

I think it's cheezy, I like the DEI titanium wrap the best. But I had this stuff lying around forever and needed to use it on something lol

I'm excited to finish this thing up and have boost for winter.

Welded on a little elbow to the compressor housing to simplify piping

And roughed in the charge pipe. Very simple and very short.

Built a reservoir for the IC system

And finalized the charge pipes, built a bracket for the IC, and built an intake tube to the fender.

Started wiring today, installed wideband and boost gauge, installed the microsquirt, changed firmware to MS2extra(more features than default microsquirt firmware) and wired a couple things to it. Has good sync on cam and crank sensors and wideband reads same as gauge.

I would say I'm about half done wiring at this point and 90% done mechanical. Boost soon!

EDIT: Scoped the crank and cam sensors tonight at the microsquirt just to verify they are clean strong signals. Yellow is crank, pink is cam. 6 teeth on the crank and 7 on the cam.

EDIT2: Finished wiring today, car is now fully running on the microsquirt. Took about 12hrs total to wire it and get it running. Not bad at all for a scratch install. Tuning out-of-boost is complete also. Just have to finish the heat exchanger and pump and plumbing for the intercooler, maybe also whip up a catchcan, then it's time to make some horsepower.

Finished the intercooler setup, I've been hitting some boost here and there working on the tune, this thing is pretty fun.

Here it is with the grille and headlight back in. See anything suspicious?

Testing the pump with a booster pack before I wired it

EDIT: Some test pulls today, clutch slips a tiny bit at 10psi, car feels great though. Probably 200whp at the moment. Gonna put a resonator in the exhaust so it sound less ass on decel and low rpm.

I'm a little impressed myself lol, 1 day a week gets er done quick.

Did my clutch today, just got a "heavy duty" 6 puck off rockauto. Ready for 2-3 more psi and dyno pulls.

Just tinkered a bit today, wired in an antilag switch in case I wanna be a ricer and blow fireballs. Polished the headlights and foglights and gave it an actual hand wash for once. Still swirled to fuck, but good enough for winter.

Boost is up to 13psi, gonna stop there. Raced a buddy's stock 2013 STI and pulled 2 lengths on him from 5-140kph before I let off. Should be about 220whp, dyno very soon!

Awesome! Even better that you can beat an STI!

Threw it on the dyno today, it made 240whp 270ftlbs at 13psi. For reference, a stock STi makes 220whp and a full bolt-on + tune STi makes 260whp on this dyno. Very happy with these results.

    Quarter mile soon weather permitting.

Took it drag racing, went 13.5@101mph, super happy with that. I'm into this car for about $2000 including purchase price. My M5 when it was stock went 13.3@103mph lol

Just did 1 and done, didn't want to beat the car up launching it. Also didn't feel there was much more in it, launch was good, shifts were good.
