I want to mount my new tv on the opposite side of where the cable connection is. Is there a product out there that allows me to hide cable wires? There is a fireplace in the middle of the opposite ends too

Interested to see what you end up doing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I have a similar issue. Tv on one wall, couch on opposite wall and fireplace between the two on the connecting wall. For whatever reason the geniuses that wired the house put the cable outlet above the fireplace, which is a stupid place for a TV unless you like neck cramps.
Only ideas I’ve come up with are going on a fishing expedition to move the hook up which would be a major pain or the other option would be a wireless A.V. transmitter
Doesn’t telus have wireless cable boxes? You would still need power though.
I had the exact same issue in my last house. I cant stand wires anywhere. I ended up getting an electrician(on beyond) to come in and run a new plug to where I wanted to mount my tv.
It was an expensive solution to say the least as holes needed to be cut in the walls, repatched and repainted, but it was exactly what I wanted.
Or you can get the white tubing and run it down the walls then paint it your wall color.
Telus does have a wireless receiver if you are with Telus. If this is first floor and basement is undeveloped, it's super easy to run another cable in the basement, drill into the wall, cutout a hole in the drywall, throw in a low voltage plate and fish your cable. Really wouldn't take long at all.
Really depends on the individual room... can be as simple as dropping the cables down the inside of an interior wall, popping off the baseboard and pulling the cables through behind it, then tucking the cables between the baseboard and carpet... or adding on a new toe piece of trim to the baseboard if the room has a hard floor... can go through the ceiling too. Low voltage has no code in Alberta so you can run that stuff however you want without permit issues
Just to piggy back on this thread..
Anyone have a suggestion for a TV mount for a 65” TV?

Amazon has lots of options, just go with something with plenty of positive reviews. I went with cheetah brand for my 65 inch, paid around $30 ish. Mantel Mount mm350 for above the fireplace. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Bought one of those fancy Kanto wall mounts from Costco and the quality, packaging and instructions were amazing. I’d never buy any other brand wall mount.

Just bought a Mounting Dream brand mount from Amazon and it’s absolutely phenomenal for the $30ish or so I paid. Wouldn’t pay more for a full motion, full articulation mount now that I’ve picked up one of these for cheap.

I was looking at the same one for $150. I picked up the in-store AVF TV mount and it's a piece of shit. The mounting plate and the wall plate are secure but the TV is attached to the swivel by a single nut. I watched the video for the Kanto and it looks way sturdier. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I remember when Best Buy sold ~$800 mounts when you could buy the exact same thing for $30-40 on Monoprice or Amazon or not much more at Costco. They probably sold them by the truckload too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Monster cable is basically the same thing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yup - $400 "gold plated" HDMI cables that carry a digital signal LOL. Exact same thing could be bought for literally $3.00 and again, I bet they sold them by the truckload along with those mounts at 1000% markup haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Any well reviewed mount is fine. I got a $9.99 ($19.99 regular price) one from prime cables holding up my 65"
Before that I had a $17 low profile one from amazon for a 50".
It's a pretty simple design and there's really nothing special about them until you get into fancy articulating and cantilever mounts.
What are you talking about. The same factory puts extra special care into the expensive cables that the cheap ones don’t get. So it just smart to buy the expensive cablesThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
