    Default Wedding venues

Asking for a friend, any recommendations for wedding venues that are not too expensive? In Calgary or close to. Must have 2 separate halls, each able to hold ~200 people.

Friends of ours got married at Big Rock Brewery. Total guests were I think 100 but they had bigger rooms and more than one room. Great food (prime rib, etc.), tons of beers on tap, lots of parking, phenomenal staff, nice space, and the entire wedding including open bar cost around $6K. Brewery tour included for those interested. I think the room rental itself was only $500-1000. Worth looking into anyway, if that suits them.

Golf courses, hotels, and community halls are probably your next best less expensive options if the above is too small or not desirable.

Community halls will be the least expensive but you need to organize literally everything yourself.

Golf courses will be next up price wise.

Generally speaking most hotels will be slightly more expensive then most golf courses.

Also most venues seem to cap out around 150-160 people so don't assume all can take 200+ cause most can't. Also good luck with 'not too expensive' hahaha.

We just had a wedding at Apple Creek golf course in Airdrie this past summer, 163 guests.

They have 2 rooms and an outdoor patio.

I would highly recommend them, they did a great job.

2x 200 rooms in the same building? Jesus, that's going to really limit the options.

Indeed. Lots of hotels have that though, so that may be the way they have to go. I am assuming this is for ceremony in one room and reception in the other. The other advantage of hotel weddings is everyone can drink and just stay there, and it's super convenient for out of town guests.

Marriott downtown would be worth checking.

Yeah, hotels may be the way to go for this big crowd.

I got married there this summer and surprisingly enough it was by far the one of the cheapest places that we received quotes from. We had our ceremony and party on the roof top patio and it was fantastic! The free / bonus SPG points were also a huge perk as we got enough for 4 free hotels nights and the staff were top notch.

Croatian Canadian Cultural Center.. That's where we're using this year. The room we're using has 365 cap or something like that, and they have another room with a large capacity as well, worth a look. Fair priced, corkage available.

wedding venues that aren't to expensive...for ~400 people is not a sentence that you would normally hear.

LOL, perhaps I worded that wrong. They're not looking to have a 100k wedding. Budget is 25-30 000 for venue. That's around $70 a plate

A wedding venue for 400 people for $30,000 max.

    I like your optimism!

Doesn't seem far-fetched, considering it's just dinner. There won't be any alcohol, where a lot of the cost comes from?

We had our wedding at Sait. I found their prices reasonable and the view outside Heritage Hall is beautiful for photos.

They have two halls you can book, https://www.sait.ca/about-sait/campu...ncing/weddings

    Prices here for venue: https://www.sait.ca/Documents/About%...gs-at-sait.pdf

I think that's doable if you don't include alcohol and just the venue/food/decoration. It gets expensive when you start including photographers, videographers, planners, DJs, etc..

Great suggestion if they can meet OP's two-hall requirement - perhaps they could divide the Atrium. I've been to some neat events in MacDonald Hall and the Atrium and the food was very tasty.

Yeah you're probably right if it's just venue and food. 400 people is just a lot...

Their parkade is popular for photos too, there were ~6-7 other wedding parties there when we had ours done due to the downpour outside that day (and the only Saturday it rained that summer of course )
