Almost ate the fucking wire divider on Anderson this morning cause some ass hat didn't know what the hell they were doing and was sliding everywhere and almost took me out.
The deep slushy snow let me get traction again and get out of the way.

Must figure out new vehicle... came in with the gf... who starts before me. she was worried it would take twice as long as normal, it did not. Got to work 1.5hrs too early. Only saving grace is I can leave early, but there is only so many times I can play that card!
A type of tire will not make up for shitty driving no matter what the situation is. Drivers who don't know how to deal with slushy or icy conditions will still be a bad driver with better tire. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Does anyone know why there was essentially zero traffic yesterday evening? I was driving home in "rush hour" around 5:15ish which is normally the absolute peak of traffic, and there was hardly a car on the road. Virtually nobody on 6th ave leaving the core - I was at the front of every light. Nobody on Crowchild, nothing at any of the usual choke-points. Was something going on? Google maps showed straight blue the entire route which I don't think I have ever seen in all my time downtown. It was way quieter even than a Friday in the summer or the day before a long weekend. It was great, just super weird haha.
everyone went in at 5 am so went home early, or didnt go in at all?
It's like that most afternoons after a snowstorm. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's caused by people leaving early (to beat the rush or becuase they got in early) and people staying home.

I thought about that too but traffic is 1000X worse when there is an actual snow storm that leaves the roads in bad shape - yesterday the roads were fine in the morning, just a little slushy and mostly dry by end of day. If people left early due to weather you'd think you'd see that when the roads are actually bad in Jan/Feb but it doesn't seem to work out like that. Oh well, I was just curious haha - I certainly can't complain. Hopefully today is the same. Shitty drivers dont drive shitty 100% of the time. When intersections are glare ice, studded tires are immediately going to help with someones poor driving decisions (lack of observing road surface or sudden loss of steering resistance) .This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Aw man, I took the back way home to avoid Crowchild because I thought it would be a nightmare, and the back way was pretty busy, dammitThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

We live in a climate of snow, ice and negative temps for 6 months of the year, the resistance to properly equipping your vehicle still blows my mind.

October heat wave acoming!
Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.
Roads are pretty good at the moment, super windy still though - just drove to the airport. Only peoples lawns and other objects getting covered in snow. That being said I still saw a grader on stoney trail north and im sure people will still drive at 30kph all the way to work.
