3G speeds in 2019?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's not for everyone. I can stream youtube if I choose, that's fast enough for me. Not going to work for 4k, or gaming. But . . . . .This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Hooked up my note8 last night, speed is fine for my usage and more importantly the latency seems great. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Thanks again ExtraSlow!
It's been solid an problem-free for me and my wife as well. It's all the teuls network, so you get first-class signal coverage and reliability.
So we pay for my mother in laws virgin mobile plan which has 500mb data which we thought would be plenty however she went away last weekend and I guess doesnt know how to type and only uses whatsapp for calling and talking (which i mean if someone types to her she records a voice message back) we got an email notification on saturday night that she had used 50$ more in data than her plan allows and they had blocked her. Now Ive looked around on the virgin mobile account and I cant figure out a way to just block at the data cap for the plan? is this even possible?
Call virgin?
Fido has an annoying one where it charges $10 overage before shutting you down. That $10 gets you 100mb. Such a scam.

Sounds like public mobile would be better. Overage is impossible.
You can buy public mobile sims on Amazon.ca now. Pm me for referral
Virgin is also $10 per 100mb and 5 lots of it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You can actually change these settings. Warnings at 50%, 75%, 90%, and 100%.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just wanted to share. If you are a Fido customer, talk to customer service and mention to them Roger's unlimited plan and ask if they can match it. Both my wife and I were able to get a deal of $70/month, 13 GB of data, unlimited calls within Canada (each phone), LTE speed. This is with BYOD, although, my wife had an outstanding balance on her phone of around $170 which they just cut off to $85 so now, her phone has been paid off. She initially mentioned she was going to pay off the balance of her phone then that's when they offered her this deal.

Fucking Telus So glad I'm with Koodo.

This. I didn't have to change anything personally. Mine defaults to telling me at 90%. Then it tells me again when I've used 100%. Then warns me when I've gone over by 10$, then cuts off at 50$This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm up for renewal with Telus in a couple months, but loyalty seems to mean dick all with them these days. I was thinking of heading to Bell. Right now I pay $80 for unlimited Canada and 2gb of data which is perfect for me.
Does anyone know if there are any deals anywhere right now, either through Bell, Costco, Vision's etc...?
If you don't mind BYOD, you could pay half that with Public. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yeah got my uncle on Public, 5GB per month, unlimited texts and calls across Canada for 40 a month. Took a bit to get the data to work (had to reset the phone) but now he is happy. Went from 10 hours talk, 1GB of data and unlimited texts for the same price.
Public? @ExtraSlow what I have to have is service everywhere, that is paramount. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's the telus network, so exact same coverage as telus. Public is a barebones company. No stores, no phones, just cheap rates. It works great if you want to be in charge of your own devices (so you have to buy or bring them yourself). Most of thier plans are throttled to 3g speeds as well, but that's fast enough to stream youtube, so it's fine for me and most people. I've been on it for a few months and I'm totally happy with it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I see Telus is now advertising 0$ any new phone on 2 year contracts now.
Yeah, if you like to pay for your phone monthly as part of your bill, Public is not an option.
